It should, I have a 2tb internal and 2tb external for my PS4 and I play games off both

Ps5 will only work that with with Sony approved drives which they haven't officially announced yet.
You can however from my understanding is buy a huge regular drive (3+ tb) and store games on it but you won't be able to run games on it. Have to transfer over to play the ps5 games. You can play the ps4 games from the external drive tho.

No one does they haven't been officially announced. Maybe they hit around Christmas but most likely after the new year.
