This joint was excellent... Some great dialogue in here.
Agreed that Leslie Odom Jr. kinda stole the show as Sam Cooke.
Brotha that played Malcolm(Kingsley Ben-Adir) was decent but I think dude from Godfather of Harlem plays a better Malcolm personally.
Eli Goree was decent as Ali.
They aint really give too much for Aldis Hodge as Jim Brown in this joint.. that was my only minor complaint.
I thought I was gonna be bored to death within the first 15 mins or so. I'm glad I continued to watch bc I indeed enjoyed it. This was dope movie. "A Change is Gonna Come" hits differently from this scene in Malcolm X.
Maybe both, but definitely more so of good intentions. How yall feel about the Malcolm and Ali dynamic?
Do yall feel like Malcolm was tryna use him, had his best interest at heart, that his intentions were self serving or some kind of combination of those things?

Malcolm and Sam had an interesting dynamic. Like a little brother, big brother type of thing. Sam felt like Malcolm was always criticizing and stomping over him and his accomplishments, but Malcolm just wanted him to utilize his voice and popularity towards black empowerment. It was like they were hearing each other, but not listening.
Word. They was like, yo I skipped out on a party for this??? Nigga pulled out vanilla icecream and ain't even have no snacks!Word. I feel like it mighta been time and place as well based on the movie. Them cats were in celebration mode and ready to party and the movie made it seem like Malcolm was on some debbie downer shit... so not only was Sam not being able to celebrate like they were expecting but to get lectured to as well? I could see how that would throw things off lol.
The message got through at the end tho which was dope

But word, Sam looked like he had been awakened at the very end. Malcolm was looking like, finally...that nigga is woke.
