Sports Business Journal featured a deep dive article on what major cities have bid on major WWE events and what they have gotten out of their partnerships at this link.
“WWE in recent years has looked at the bid fees for comparable events such as major league all-star games, player drafts and combines, and is gauging what cities are willing to pay those other properties to host those major events,” a "veteran destination marketing executive" who has secured many major league, NCAA, Olympic and WWE events told SBJ. “I expect the bid fees to go up. But so is the return on our investments and our market’s national and international exposure.”
Citing public records, SBJ noted, "Documents filed with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission by WWE subsidiary Event Services Inc. show that WWE generated $39.56 million in ticket sales across six WrestleMania week events in April: “NXT Stand & Deliver,” SmackDown and Raw (each at Wells Fargo Center); Undertaker’s “1deadMAN SHOW” (The Fillmore nightclub); and the two-night WrestleMania at Lincoln Financial Field. The commission requires combat sports promoters to collect a 5% tax on such sales. Overall, Pennsylvania collected more than $2.08 million in commission taxes from the five days of events."
The article features a ton of breakdowns for WWE's partnerships in several States and cities and looks ahead at their Las Vegas partnership for Wrestlemania 41 as well.
They came to their senses realizing AEW not gonna sell out tickets wit JJ as your main event draw. They tried to base this off the promos he's been droppin about his personal relationship wit Owen.
Yeah that's cool and all...but naw chief. Ain't nobody running to buy tickets to see JJ main event anything. Foh. Lol
