Official Car/Vehicle thread.. Car mods, new purchases, general convo

this.......or u got to love turning wrenches urself

I currently still got my old 750li and my 550i...........these cars are automotive perfection IMO

but u got to be willing to put in the work urself not to get fleeced by the dealer or other mechanics SMH
True but the newer cars have so many electronics they’ve made it almost impossible to do everything yourself. Only dealerships have certain software to perform certain task.

Plus now cars like BMW have specialized tools that are mad expensive just to get a damn bolt unscrewed.

These gas prices got a nigga ready to get a EV or Tesla? Anybody got a EV?

Back when gas prices were crazy high in 2008 I was driving a 96 Tahoe 400 miles a week to my internship. I gave serious thought to getting a hybrid at the time. But since then I’ve realized these gas prices will go up and down and I would regret driving one when gas was $2/gallon.

However, EV’s today look a lot better than they did back then. I wouldn’t blame you for getting one but doing it for a gas price hike probably shouldn’t be the reason.

Smh

My dad has a 2014 Audi and told me a few days ago that the check engine light came on and he took it to his mechanic and the mechanic told him the price where the repairs would start is $2500

He then took it to the Audi dealer and they told if he wanted everything fixed it would cost almost 10k

😳

Update

It costs my dad about $8800 to fix everything but the car drives brand new!

Advice: only buy these type of cars if you can afford the repairs

Exactly why I always avoided those German brands… when they work they’re amazing but when something goes wrong… it’s gonna cost ya.
