Official Car/Vehicle thread.. Car mods, new purchases, general convo

Picture this:

It’s about April 2014. I have owned my 2004 Nissan Maxima for about 3 years now. I’ll admit I didn’t take care of that car like I should have but it is what it is

A month before the fire the car wouldn’t start. Took it to my mechanic but he couldn’t figure out what the problem was. It finally starts but the speedometer doesn’t work so I don’t know how fast I’m going 🤷🏾‍♂️

So I take it to my other mechanic who’s a friend and I can’t remember what he fixed but it seemed fine after he worked on it and the speedometer is working

A few weeks later the car once again wouldn’t start. I jumped it and it worked. I ran a few errands and didn’t drive it again

I was living with my parents at the time and at around 2am I hear a banging on my door. My neighbor would tell me later that he heard an explosion and looked out his window and saw the hood of my car on fire. My dad answered the door and runs upstairs and tells my mom “Ro’s car is on fire!”

I hear this and jumped out of my bed and look out the window and see this when I go outside:

Still have no idea how the fire started

🤷🏾‍♂️
I'm guessing your battery overheated and exploded

the wiring from your battery was probably replaced with the wrong gauge on an older out of spec battery

shit was overheating every time u cranked it up and drove it

parked it, and the temp change probably made ur overheated corroded battery explode......and the other wiring parts were prob made out of that old material cars were using for cheap wiring harnesses pre-2006 timeframe

shit caught fire and then spread across ur engine then eventually the rest of the car

from the pics it looks like ur cabin firewall worked as intended tho👍

@AP4.0

I’ve had a new nissan pathfinder a few times this week and I’m impressed. It’s really nice
IDK if I saw the Pathfinder or the pilot but that bitch looked sexy

I'm not in the market at all for a new car but I wouldn't mind getting the one I saw

I think it was a fully loaded pilot though

Pilot looks nice but I hate the interior

That Pathfinder interior >>>>>>

Hybrid might be my new want lol, been borrowing my sisters the last couple weeks while my trucks in the bodyshop… man shed a thug tear the other day when I been driving it for two weeks and only cost $34. Would have been easily $120 in fuel in my truck 😂 and thats driving real conservative.

Ride started chugging last week and I'm smelling gas. Its starting to look like it's prolly the fuel pressure regulator. Thankfully the shit is just two 8mm bolts, a hose, and a plug, but I gotta find the right one and that's proving to be harder that it really should considering that this engine was used by ford across a shitload of cars for years.
