Official Car/Vehicle thread.. Car mods, new purchases, general convo

Welp, turns out I was wrong about the problem with my ride; it's the bank 2 O2 sensor. Naturally, because it's me, it's the harder of the two to replace being on the rear cylinder bank.

Might have to finally invest in a pair of larger jack stands for this shit.

Nice cars

Current renting a Q5

It can cost a lot to repair though

Smh

My dad has a 2014 Audi and told me a few days ago that the check engine light came on and he took it to his mechanic and the mechanic told him the price where the repairs would start is $2500

He then took it to the Audi dealer and they told if he wanted everything fixed it would cost almost 10k

😳

That was pretty much the same thing for my 2015 4 series bmw with about 130k miles. Said it would be about $8k to get everything fixed. My daughter was driving it at the time.

I said fuck that. Got her a Mazda for $16k with 50k miles. Traded the BMW for $6k so ended up paying $10k. So for $2k more than what it would have been to fix the BMW got a low mileage Mazda that is cheaper to maintain and fix and will run for a much longer time.

We let our Benz truck go back in 2015 and despite the fact that there are plenty of older Mercedes models I would love to own, I don't love the cost of ownership and will probably never own another one ever again.

All them German cars cost too damned much to fix.

I was really considering buying a 9-5 turbo about 5-6 years ago. There's a good number of 'em out in Vegas that are super clean. Came to my senses tho.

Smart

My dad originally wanted to sell that Audi and his 2006 Benz but he claims that aren’t giving him fair value for his cars lol

The 2006 Benz he bought in 2009 and only as 75k miles on it

He could only get about 4k for the Audi

He’s gonna keep both for now

The only way to have a German car is to lease it. And as soon as the lease is up turn it in for something else. The cost of ownership just doesn’t justify owning one.

If I had the dough to maintain it, I'd definitely have one of these in my driveway, 'cause I really fucks with older Benzes.

Last time I looked at a VW favorably was the old school Jetta from the late 80's, the 88 Scirocco, and the Corrado.
