Spence-Garcia To Be Announced As FOX PPV March 16
By Keith Idec

The Errol Spence Jr.-Mikey Garcia fight will be announced Tuesday as part of the FOX-Premier Boxing Champions press conference in Los Angeles.

Spence-Garcia was targeted as a pay-per-view event since it gained traction this summer as a realistic possibility. Showtime was expected to distribute it, but FOX has acquired those rights as part of its new deal with Al Haymon’s PBC.

Showtime has televised each of Spence’s past three bouts. Haymon has assured FOX executives, however, that the best boxers he represents will fight on FOX or FOX Pay-Per-View in some instances.

Spence-Garcia is expected to take place March 16 at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The 28-year-old Spence (24-0, 21 KOs) is heavily favored to defeat Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs) due to a significant size advantage the powerful southpaw owns. Garcia will move up two weight classes – from lightweight to welterweight – to challenge Spence for his IBF 147-pound championship in a bout between two of the best boxers, pound-for-pound, in the sport.

Their fight also will test Spence and Garcia as pay-per-view draws. Neither fighter has headlined a pay-per-view show, but their showdown will receive a huge promotional push from FOX, a broadcast network that reaches approximately 120 million homes in the United States.

The 30-year-old Garcia, of Oxnard, California, beat Robert Easter Jr. (21-1, 14 KOs) in his last fight – a 12-round, 135-pound title unification fight July 28 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Spence, of DeSoto, Texas, stopped Mexico’s Carlos Ocampo (23-1, 14 KOs) in the first round of his last bout, a mandatory title defense June 16 at Ford Center at The Star, the Cowboys’ training facility in Frisco, Texas.

Garcia began discussing challenging Spence before he faced Easter. The four-division champion made clear right after winning that fight that he wanted to face Spence next.

Considering it was maybe just some southern ignorance shit and he ain’t wanna pay for it but definitely want clarification. Want these question asked for each top fight

I wouldn't put it on southern ignorance or money cause Spence did VADA testing for the Kell Brook fight. He for sure making more money for this fight than the Brook fight.

If he signs up closer to when his camp is going to start that is going to seem really suspect because they way people cycle on and off the juice.

Mayweather Says Nasukawa Fight is Back, Terms Being Finalized

Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather told TMZ Sports that his fight in Tokyo against Tenshin Nasukawa is back on.

Mayweather, 41, announced in September a ‘huge boxing event’ in Japan and made it official Nov. 4, announcing a ‘super bout challenge’ against 20-year-old Japanese kickboxing sensation Nasukawa on December 31 in Tokyo.

He backed out three days later, saying he’d been conned with the fight details, and is now insisting a mere week later “we’re going to make it happen.”

In calling the fight off, Mayweather said he was misled by fight promoters, Rizin - although he flew out to Tokyo and took part in a full press conference to officially announce the fight - claiming that he didn't want to create a scene at the presser.

In his Instagram post, he wrote that he was initially asked to participate in an exhibition against a selected opponent for a group of wealthy spectators for a “very large fee.”

Earlier this week, Rizin issued a statement to the press - which revealed their intention to work out the issues with Mayweather.

Mayweather told TMZ Sports this week that the money is keeping him in the fight.

“It’s a no-brainer. Just because I’m retired from boxing,” Mayweather said. “I still make appearances worldwide and make a ton of money.”

Mayweather, who retired back in August 2017 after stopping UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds, has a record of 50-0 with 27 knockouts. Tenshin is also undefeated, with a record of 27-0 with 21 knockouts as a kickboxer.

As BoxingScene.com first reported, the contest is going to a be a three round exhibition - fought under boxing rules.

“Rules? It’s gonna be a little boxing exhibition. No kicking,” Mayweather said. “I’m moving around with the guy for 9 minutes, and of course it’s gonna be the highest paid exhibition ever.”

Damn....this my first time actually seeing these niggas face to face....shit gonna be EPIC if they ever fight
