Wild Ideas to Bring Back Sports Might Say More About Cities Than Leagues
MGM Resorts International, in hard-hit Las Vegas, has proposed audacious plans to the leagues to come back in a quarantined environment.

MGM Resorts International, one of the largest casino companies in the world, has pitched several sports leagues, including the N.B.A., W.N.B.A., N.H.L. and M.L.S., on a plan to bring sports back in a quarantined environment.

Sports leagues are desperate for a safe way to start playing games again. Las Vegas has tens of thousands of empty hotel rooms and a tourism-based economy that has been wracked by the coronavirus pandemic.
Could they help solve each other’s problems?
MGM Resorts International, the company that has ownership stakes in more than a dozen hotel-casinos in Las Vegas, has pitched several sports leagues, including the N.B.A., W.N.B.A., N.H.L. and M.L.S., on an audacious proposal to house their athletes and necessary support staff to hold their seasons on a quarantined block on the Las Vegas Strip, according to multiple people familiar with the discussions who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.

According to a proposal deck sent to the N.B.A. and the W.N.B.A., which The New York Times reviewed, MGM envisions a fully quarantined campus, essentially one full block of the Las Vegas Strip, where players would live and play out whatever schedule the leagues want. The athletes would be joined by their families, league and broadcast media employees, as well as the staff and vendors needed to serve them, with access to lounges, spas, restaurants and all the other perks the resorts offer (yes, even gambling).

This is not gonna be possible. Your talking about 500 players and their families, then coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, team execs, etc. Then your talking bout probably 50 or so refs. Then your talking bout all the media people. Plus mfers Im forgetting about.

All in all, its gonna be over 2000 people. How are you gonna make sure all 2000 people are following protocol? Atleast a handful are gonna fuck up and the leagues are gonna be embarassed.

Just. Cancel. The. Season.

I hear you.

I think the Disney world idea makes a bit more sense because it's a huge park that can hold all those folks and be more contained but even that is a bad idea in my opinion.

I hate to be a cynic but if they start the season back up it isn't a "if" somebody gets the virus, it's going to be a "when" somebody gets the virus with all those folks being around each other. It's going to be a PR nightmare and lots of regular folks are gonna show disdain when they hear about how quick and easy these folks were able to get testing and care also. People were complaining when the Jazz & Thunder players were able to get tested so quick and easily when they found out Gobert had it.

If they start the playoffs up I will watch and not judge though. If they don't play another game i understand that and will not judge also.

Man I need to rant about this.

We all love Jordan. Almost all of us got Jordan as the GOAT, his greatness is not up for debate.

But man the Jordan dick riding since his documentary been coming out is fucking disgusting. I know there isnt shit else to talk about so they gotta rehash these old ass topics, but daaaamn im tired of it. I dont even watch espn or any sports channels these days. Havent in weeks. And i still see Jordan this, and this mfer cant compare to Jordan, etc everywhere.

For the record, Jordan was way more athletically gifted than anyone else in his era. So imagine if you put Bron in that era. What are the 80s and 90s players gonna do against a 6'8 mfer who is stronger, faster, and jumps higher than everyone, plus has one of the best iqs of all time? Same with KD. What can anyone from the 80s and 90s do against a mfer thats 7 foot tall and has point skills, and is the best socerer ever?

Saying Bron and KD wouldnt be able to adjust to the physicallity of the 80s and 90s is bs, and these are supposed to be professional sports analysts.

Stop the dick riding.

Dont have to shit on Bron or KD to give Jordan his props.

Folks act like LBJ don’t play a physical style

And and act like players ain’t more skilled today.

Fucking haters

And that’s why the season needs to be canceled because this would be a horrible look for the NBA. It’s really not that serious to continue the season if everyone outside of the NBA can’t get tested but players and personnel can get tested asap

Most people with common sense know that wealthy folks are going to be able to go through private entities to get better and quicker access to care. It's always been this way and will always be that way unfortunately but you are 100% correct with consigning my statement's about the huge PR hit the NBA would take if they got tests and such before the non wealthy folks.

The last thing the league needs is more scrutiny, especially after the Hong Kong and China stuff that happened earlier in the season. That whole ordeal fucked up a huge portion of the league's fan base and revenue abroad and it hurt it's standing a little bit domestically.

This is a big decision for Adam Silver.

My speculation is the only reason LeBron wants the season to resume is because he’s chasing the points record. I don’t see any other player campaigning this hard.

Lebron cries to much in this era just imagine how he would be in the 80's and 90's.

I think guys like Bron and Durant would do fine back in Jordan's prime years. I do think Bron not being all that great of a jump and foul shooter would hurt him some though.

I don't know how many championships either of them would win but Bron is a physical freak that could play and thrive In any era.

Lebron would literally run through all 5 players and get to the rim at will in the 80s. Once he got used to the physical play, its over.

Lets take the most freakishly atheltic player of the most athletic era of basketball, and put him in a much less athletic era. How will he fail?

And lol at Bron crying to much. Like the goat didnt cry and throw fits after getting touched all the time.

Matterfact, fuck all yall for having me defend bron. Smh.

Ima digress and let yall saddle back on Jordan and the 80s and 90s.
