The Cavs were smart not to do that deal. Why give up assets and a building block for a half season rental of Amare? Especially when Amare was a free agent at the end of the season?

You trade for the star every time and the cavs did not have any decent assets. Maybe the Irving draft pick goes to Phoenix for amare but ehh

cavs lost to the magic that year 4-2
