No Limit Records Appreciation thread

I never said P was irrelevant but everybody else on the label is

you need to be more specific man

b/c if you are, then im liable to actually agree with you on something

they had their core stable of artists, then there was a huge drop off in talent. I dont dispute this, however, P gave them a platform. We can both agree that musically, those people were not as talented, but if you were signed to NL records, your album came out. You didnt sit on a shelf like a lot of artists did on these other labels.

At one point, i would even say everybody got the same amount of exposure up until a certain point that i cant pinpoint. But using Lil Italy as an example, we can both agree his album was trash. I say that having only listened to one song i can remember. A podnuh of mine had it in college. By that time, i think the lights on the tank started to dwindle and they were still just releasing stuff, but with less pub about it.

Du, how many record executive meetings have you sat in?

they know when all the other artists are releasing albums. I cant speak to what Knock is saying, but if you were in the record industry at that time, i find it hard to believe you didnt know when a NL album was being released especially if they were releasing on EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

that aint a lie or exaggeration. That actually happened.
ok, but yall been in these meetings,

yall taking some pride on some shit nobody was aware of...

ok, niggaz dropped albums every week, them shits wasn't shaking up shit outaide yall little area...

trust me, i can tell you absolutely never once in the history of my lifehave i ever heard anyone who was anticipating or exctined abotu a NL album drop.....

niggaz might look through their shit when we go tot he store...

but we wasn't going to the store just cuz their shit just dropped....

i'm trying to tell u man, the whole world wasn't like yall was over this shit

The more yall type, the more yall on some, I just started listening to rap in 2004

Mia X had Foxy Brown, and she was literally the hottest female MC in the game at the time, and that song was a huge hit. Even got some spin on Rap City

The same month, yet alone the same day Major Artist, Major Labels, Def Jam wouldn't drop shit

That's how strong he had the game locked up

But he didn't run the rap game??

Knock, what's the time stamp he says it

so a NL album goes gold/platinum and nobody from baltimore knew about it's release date?

i would take that everyday of the week and 2x on sunday

Only P and Silk had play outside their region, I can't even explain how Silk who can't even stay on beat with those wack ass bars got so popular.

Mama Drama came out in 98, But niggas up north wasn't checking for NL.

The more y'all type the more y'all ether y'all own selves.
bruh, my two statements do not contradict
"i have never been once aware in my entire life aware when NL albums were dropping, or heard one person in anticipation of said..."

that means i've never heard anyone in anticipation of a NL album being dropped....

saying i like a song, doesn't contradict that,,,,

are you following all my words... cuz there's some reading comprehensions missing here....there are some good and cool songs... i said that from the jump.....and i remember that one particular song...

but that has nothing to do with being in anticipation of it dropping.....like....i'm still lost as to how you relating those two comments

So he's lying is what you're saying?

All that you saying, you are saying DJ Paul would lie about something like that. I know it's crazy and you may not want to make sense of it and can't come to grips to it, but it's true big dog.

P ran the game like that

Again, why DJ Paul AND the Cac reporter who agreed would lie about something like that?

i just want ya'll to know, my side is busting from laughing at some of these posts...LMAO

Man P put that fear in them niggas, They shit aint come out.

Them niggas knew P was running shit, Aint even drop an album in the SAME FUCKING MONTH.

A whole MONTH had to go by before Def Jam and others felt it was safe. Scary ass niggas.

P ran you niggas

DU, brah, they dont release albums regionally. All this shit is known to all the execs which is why they be like "you gon drop in such and such quarter"

this not exclusive to southern artists

so, when hollywood or movie studios change release dates to avoid being released the same month as a marvel movie, everything is ok, but god forbid that its plausible that a record label did the same thing to not directly compete with NL

Now im not saying the JayZ, Nas, etc of the rap game did this, but i bet you Dame wouldnt put out a young gunz album on the same day as a popular NL act.

so a NL album goes gold/platinum and nobody from baltimore knew about it's release date?
100% possible

did you know the release date of State property chain gang? were you playing the paid in full soundtrack bonus disc that was a ROC mixtape?

you prolyl just hearing about that shit right?

it's cool...yall all the way down there, i don't expect yall to get excited about he shit we get excited about....

but that secret hidden mixtape was the craziest shit ever over in this part of the country...weird right?
