I believe this is a possibility because the Knicks had that last minute workout with Garland. They probably felt that RJ might be taken by the Pelicans so they needed to see Garland as a back up plan.
The flipside though is that the Knicks leaked that RJ is still their guy. This might have been done to force the Pelicans to move up to number 2 and take RJ so that Ja Morant falls to the Knicks.
No clue whats actually going on but theres definetly some games being played.
