i think both of ya'll are making some very real plausible assumptions that all the players mentioned will take the logical next step
I don't think anything is wrong with assuming that, BUT, i give the edge to the nets. They are going to be playing with house money while the raptors will feel the pressure to do SOMETHING that resembles a successful season with Leonard bolting in FA.
As far as the players, idk man, I like LeVert returning back to full form post injury. I think Allen is a legit problem in the paint for the opposition. I'm not as low as many people are on Kyrie, BUT, I don't think he's gonna move the needle a ton this year and in a vacuum, that should be ok I guess.
I think everyone from the raptors makes the next step, but it still wont be enough for a deep run.
I hope they meet in the playoffs so i can see the shit talking b/t ya'll tho lol

Yeah, you can tell this nigga didn’t actually watch any Nets game or know much about the roster. You don’t even have to look that far into the raptors to know they won’t be that great. There were many times during the playoffs even where Kawhi was their crutch & savior. Why am I to believe their roster is so much better now that he’s gone? We really here putting heavy stock into a mid 30s Marc Gasol & an older Lowry who now has no Derozan or Kawhi at his disposal?

After watching Summer League you can see why the Spurs liked Samanic. The guy has a lot of skills for a person who is 6'11". He is a really good athlete, can shoot, and put the ball on the floor a bit. His passing also was underrated and he is a solid rebounder. He has to get bigger and stronger as well as get better court awareness defensive wise but he has a lot of good things to work with.
I like all 3 rookies we drafted and I think Weatherspoon could actually play sooner rather than later
By sending Paul George to the Clippers and Russell Westbrook to the Rockets, Oklahoma City is becoming the first team ever to trade two reigning All-NBA players in the same offseason. The Thunder are the first team in decades to trade even two reigning All-Stars in the same offseason.
The sequence appears clear: George requested a trade. Oklahoma City granted it. With one star gone, the Thunder had less ability to win with Westbrook. So, they dealt him, too.
But if George didn’t request a trade this summer, Westbrook might have been moved soon, anyway.

The supporting cast was expensive, and further upgrades would’ve likely been too costly. Westbrook is too good to tank. The four years and $171,139,920 remaining on his contract are a major liability.
However, Westbrook has meant so much to Oklahoma City. His loyalty after Kevin Durant left was so huge.
It would have been difficult to handle the politics of trading him if George didn’t ask out first. That made it so Westbrook was ready to leave. Thunder fans seem supportive of both Westbrook and the organization.
I believe Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti believes he would’ve traded Westbrook soon, regardless. That was clearly the right move for getting past this era of stagnation.
But it’s another thing to pull the trigger on moving such a beloved player. It wouldn’t have necessarily happened, especially not smoothly.

I think people are sleeping on the Raptors big time in this thread. They played well during the season when Kawhi rested and have basically the same squad minus him and Danny coming back next season. Now I don't think they are winning the championship but they will be a top 5 eastern conference team barring Injuries.
The Nets are a deeper team than many casual fans know and the additions of Kyrie and DeAndre Jordan only helps their depth. My issue with them is the coaching staff is going to have to accommodate Kyrie and DeAndre's play style. Which In theory shouldn't be too crazy because the Nets liked running pick & roll while in the half court set but is Kyrie and Jordan going to want to run and are they going to have any issues sharing the ball and play time with the young playerz to accommodate the team and winning?
The Nets have the potential for more serious continuity issues than the Raptors which makes me believe the Raptors will be this regular season the team out of the 2 barring Injuries with the better record
