The Wire is weird in that it's a show that was highly acclaimed when it aired and somehow has become even more highly regarded in the nearly 20 years since it ended. Usually with time people get to picking apart the show but even the much maligned season 2 has now become understood for the true integral role it played in the overall story.

Lol its not slander. Season 4 of The Wire is one of the best written and acted pieces of television of all time. But I've read enough and listened to enough podcasts about the show where multiple people have spoken on this and how due to the low ratings HBO was iffy on bringing the show back. Hell they didn't even want Kima's character on the show past season 1 hence why she got shot but the writers and creators said "fuck HBO" and kept her character alive. The Wire had to fight to be on as long as it was. Oddly enough the highest TV ratings The Wire got was season 2 which most people hate until they rewatch the show and see how important that season is to the overall story

Season 2 was wack to me,compared to season 1 and the other seasons.

It did introduce important things for later but it was like 10 eps of a Law and Order Criminal Intent ep.

I didn't GAF about them white ppl at the ship dock like that.

But even a wack Wire season is better than 95% of everything on TV.

Season 2 was the Age Of Ultron of The Wire.
