I honestly dont get what the he was trying to do with Slave Ship(Interlude) or how it even fits in with the rest of the album. One of yall "treasure hunters" let me know tomorrow if i'm missing something on that one.

Shit felt crazy left field and jarring to me when that shit came on

Idk

to me, it almost sounded like what you'd hear watchin a movie scene of a slave ship.. seein folks cramped in like sardines w/ filthy inhumane treatment, being thrown (& sum cases jumpin) overboard, etc.

jus a somber tone

I’m copping this tonight/tomorrow but @Goldie an asshole for saying that nigga was singing thru tha first half of tha album...had me worried thinking Lupe when all “Kanye artsy” on me lol

bet.. was just interested to see what the Lupe fans honestly thought of it. For me.. that particular track is getting tossed in the recycle bin.

The high pitched violins irritated me personally

I just sat and really listened to that interlude cuz of you. Lol. But it's actually telling a story.

I play the alto saxophone, and have since the 5th grade. In high school I was routinely asked to do solos and I learned how to convey emotion and storytelling through the music. That's what that interlude is. It's a story of this particular slave ship that sunk.

The ship and the slaves were alluded to in Manila and Gold Vs. The Right... In the beginning, it's this ominous and somber tone. Picture yourself crammed in a hull, not knowing what's about to happen and shackled and scared.

Then the violin starts getting chaotic. Like frantic and disheveled. And then it starts making that trademark sound effect of something falling -- or sinking, in this case. And it comes to a close with a melancholy reluctance. Like an acceptance of your fate. It's also a great segue into the next two songs as well.

So, thanks for that. Making me analyze a violin instrumental. Lol.

Back and forth between @Goldie and @AP21 hilarious... AP I appreciate the energy Bro...

Anyways I just went through this thread for the first time today under an hour cos I purchase Lupe albums instantly and @Like_Water review got me hype
