How wasn't he?

You answered your own question

How wasn't he? He was most people's favorite from the 3-6 camp. His songs are still being flipped till this day (cardi's bickenhead one of the biggest songs this year) (cole's - no role modelz) etc. That 3-6 sound shaped the sound of hiphop for the 6-7 years.

His influence is clear as day.

Notice you didn't say "that Project Pat sound". Like I said he rode that 36 wave.

And LOL @ cuz he get's/got sampled. Lots of MF get sampled that ain't legends.

Pat for 36 is Yayo for GU
Both integral for the movement of the group...

@Goldie when you started LV you should of used a certain criteria
Most of us (me included) are looking at it on a do i like them or not basis...

Did you just compare yayo to motherfuckin pat as far as impact in their movements?
Lol what? Ice T and Short have been in the game 15yrs longer than Pat. T the godfsgodf of gamgsta rap and Short is the godfather of pimp rap lol WTF is we talking about?

Pat a legend in Memphis that's it and hasn't changed the game in any capacity

Pat is the best gangster rapper from the South.

That was a weak attempt to discredit Pat. He was just as important to that sound as any of them. That's like me talkin about NWA's sound and trying to discredit dre or cube. or is i was talkin about cash money sound, that doesn't mean juvie, etc weren't responsible for making that sound hot.

Aight answer this first, does a rapper have to make a song solely about gangs to be a gangsta rapper?

Well cursing alot isn't "gangsta rap" if it was Blowfly would be the father of gangsta rap.

So now that I've answered your question, lets hear some gangsta rap that came out before Colors, which was the theme song for the movie Colors, which was a movie about gangs.

Pat aint even in my top 40, im just able to be objective and acknowledge a nigga's influence.

Fine nigga

WEST COAST gangsta rap. Ice still was a pioneer that Pat ain't.

U made my point for me, he's a WEST COAST legend, not a hiphop legend.

All he said was that Schooly D influenced him. Everybody knows that 6 In The Morning was influenced by PSK, but that doesn't make PSK a "gangsta rap record".

If PSK is "gangsta rap" as you say it is, quote some lyrics from PSK to support your premise.

My premise is that rappers started cursing in the mid 80s, but when Colors dropped, along with the movie, it was like something completely new. Colors had a music video and the effect was so devestating that gangs started popping up in Boston where there were no gangs prior to Colors.

We had no idea that there were gangs in LA called Bloods and Crips that wore red and blue. Nobody knew that until Colors came outaround the spring of 1988. Ice T's second album came out at the end of the summer (although Colors wasn't on his album, it was on the Colors Soundtrack) Eazy E and NWA's albums came out after Ice T's second album.

By the time Ice T and lster NWA came out, Schooly D was more of an afterthought. He didn't make any music videos until much later and didnt have anywhere near the impact of Ice T or NWA.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for you to post some songs or lyrics that would be considered "gangsta rap" that came out before Colors.

Poll says otherwise.

2 classic albums and part of one the best HipHop groups of all time. I’m giving him legend status off the strength of making “Don’t Save Her”
