Ive actually watched that entire MJ interview. It was good. Im also interested to see MJ shatter alot of his fans expectations of him shitting on the league when he starts with NBC. Gonna be alot like when niggas find out their favorite lyrical rapper loves Future
The conversation he was having was about comparing eras, not so much about rings and championships.
Bron said he was the goat because of the 2016 ring and now he's trying to spin the narrative about the importance of rings. Its sad and funny to watch.
In full context that MJ clip addressed both the rings and eras debates. The question Bron answered was a fan question they answered on the pod. And his answer ain't that much different from things we've heard both current and former players say. Which is the rings argument is used at times to diminish careers that should be celebrated. They're not wrong with that
HE said a ring (2016) made him the goat.
He can think that. He's wrong but he can think that. That dont mean he's wrong in the other assessment
Ofc rings shouldnt be the "A all B all" but 4-6 will always be a factor when discussing Lebron's ranking among the goats.
LeBron himself has said himself he should be the GOAT, he cries when people don't put him #1I see where the disconnect is. You all keep saying Bron’s making a case to be the GOAT, when he never said that or even alluded to that at all. Bron said how come other guys who've had amazing careers - most of the guys he's mentioned are in their respective HOFs - are for some reason looked at differently than other who may not have done as much as those guys, but got a championship?
He also said guys that only have 1-2 titles are looked at differently from those that have more, which also can be ridiculous.
He mentioned Dan Marino: How many QBs of all time are viewed over Marino? Cause I only count 5, 6 max. Brady, Montana, Elway, P. Manning, Mahomes, and maybe Rodgers. I don't put Favre over Marino, or Bradshaw, or Eli, or Namath, or even Steve Young and Troy Aikman, and they all got rings. Hell, most of them dudes have 2-4 rings, and I say Marino was greater than them.
I don't put Tatum, Jaylen Brown, SGA, or Jamal Murray over AI.....and they got rings. I don't put Anthony Davis over Karl Malone. I - nor you - certain wouldn't place Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell over Bernard King, and Cornbread won a Finals MVP in '81 with the Celtics.
You saying you taking Kenny “The Jet” Smith” over “Iceman” George Gervin, or Mo Cheeks over The Point God, or even John Stockton (the TRUE Point God)? You tellin me you'd really take Draymond Green over either Dwight Howard solely because Dray has 4 rings, and Dwight only got one, or even over Wilt cause Wilt has two rings? Y'all be lying like a muhfucka on here.
And as both he and I said: Barry Bonds is THE greatest hitter - if not overall baseball player - to EVER play in the Majors. There's only three players I'd even considered being near that level: Hank Aaron, Pete Rose, and possibly Babe Ruth. Not Mickey Mantle, not A-Rod or Pujols, not even Jeter.
THAT is what LeBron was alluding to. Rings are NOT the only measuring stick of "greatness." He didn't say nothing about being a GOAT. He knows he’s already Top 3, DOA.
I also said this....
I doubt I'll see anyone try to challenge that, cause it proves them wrong.
4 wins, 6 losses
He had to lessen the impact of those losses so… it doesn’t matter anymore. And he knows he can’t surpass Kobe, Jordan, or Horry w the time he has left.
