Lebron: Rings Shouldn't Matter; Rings Arent As Important In Other Sports

In Bron’s defense, he’s been held to Jordan’s standard since 2001….and Bron was in high school then.

This is why I’ve always said the Jordannaires are an unreasonable bunch of fans, are right there with the MAGAs and OVOvary Gang:

Y’all move every goal post possible to protect your leader.

You say it’s about rings, then I say BILL RUSSELL and you flip it.

You say it’s about scoring, then I say KAREEM or WILT and you flip it.

Then you settle on “they’re old,” then someone says LEBRON, and y’all flip it.

Just utter ridiculousness.

"Rings ain't the A all B all" - LeBron

He’s right. Ring culture isn’t as dominant in other sports than it is in the NBA:

Dan Marino - One of THE greatest to ever play QB….no SB rings. Only made it to the Bowl once. Still held in high regard, over a lot of QBs that do have titles.

Barry Bonds - Pretty much THE greatest hitter that ever played baseball, Roids or not. Never won a WS title. Held in higher regard than 98% of MLB players.

Reynaldo - Never won a World Cup. Still Top 5 DOA in the eyes of millions of soccer players.

AI - Probably still the pound-for-pound king, even without an NBA title. More celebrated than many champions that were his contemporaries during his generation.

Besides: if ring culture was the end-all-be-all, BILL RUSSELL would forever be the king.

But we’re not ready for THAT conversation either.

Rest In Power to the true titan of the NBA.

You sound like you're auditioning to be on the Klutch payroll. All of it's a lie. Ring culture isn't any more of a thing in the NBA than it is anywhere else. No one considers rings to be necessary to be considered a Great player. The Top 75 players group has players like Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Iverson, Ewing, Miller, etc... don't have rings. They are clearly considered to be Greats. Just like Marino is considered a great in every NFL circle.

The ring talk that Lebron is trying to dispute is associated with the GOAT conversation. You can't say that's only true for the NBA because the reason why Brady is considered the GOAT over people like Marino and Montana is because he has more rings.

On another note, I got a question for all the Lebron fans. How do ya'll do it? I get being a fan of a dude because of his game and being able to separate that from the man. I'm a fan of MJ the basketball player, but I can freely admit that MJ the human being is an asshole. That said, at some point, can't a person become so insufferable that you won't rock with them on any level? It seems to me Lebron should have reached that level for most people a long time ago.

Just look at the subject of this topic. This dude literally has a whole podcast dedicated to propaganda for his GOAT case. It's supposed to be about Xs and Os, but really, it's just him tackling every criticism he's received and trying to gaslight about history. Do ya'll know how many times he's thrown his teammates under the bus on that podcast? Who can rock with a dude like that?

I see where the disconnect is. You all keep saying Bron’s making a case to be the GOAT, when he never said that or even alluded to that at all. Bron said how come other guys who've had amazing careers - most of the guys he's mentioned are in their respective HOFs - are for some reason looked at differently than other who may not have done as much as those guys, but got a championship?

He also said guys that only have 1-2 titles are looked at differently from those that have more, which also can be ridiculous.

He mentioned Dan Marino: How many QBs of all time are viewed over Marino? Cause I only count 5, 6 max. Brady, Montana, Elway, P. Manning, Mahomes, and maybe Rodgers. I don't put Favre over Marino, or Bradshaw, or Eli, or Namath, or even Steve Young and Troy Aikman, and they all got rings. Hell, most of them dudes have 2-4 rings, and I say Marino was greater than them.

I don't put Tatum, Jaylen Brown, SGA, or Jamal Murray over AI.....and they got rings. I don't put Anthony Davis over Karl Malone. I - nor you - certain wouldn't place Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell over Bernard King, and Cornbread won a Finals MVP in '81 with the Celtics.

You saying you taking Kenny “The Jet” Smith” over “Iceman” George Gervin, or Mo Cheeks over The Point God, or even John Stockton (the TRUE Point God)? You tellin me you'd really take Draymond Green over either Dwight Howard solely because Dray has 4 rings, and Dwight only got one, or even over Wilt cause Wilt has two rings? Y'all be lying like a muhfucka on here.

And as both he and I said: Barry Bonds is THE greatest hitter - if not overall baseball player - to EVER play in the Majors. There's only three players I'd even considered being near that level: Hank Aaron, Pete Rose, and possibly Babe Ruth. Not Mickey Mantle, not A-Rod or Pujols, not even Jeter.

THAT is what LeBron was alluding to. Rings are NOT the only measuring stick of "greatness." He didn't say nothing about being a GOAT. He knows he’s already Top 3, DOA.

I also said this....

I doubt I'll see anyone try to challenge that, cause it proves them wrong.

Nobody is misunderstanding what Bron said. We're just not dense. Bron wants to be thought of as the GOAT. One of the main arguments that people use to put MJ over him is more rings. That's why Bron and his minons constantly try to devalue winning.

To answer your question, very few people put Russel at the GOAT because no one believes number of championships is the end all be all to being the GOAT. This whole championship culture narrative is stupid because winning has always been central to sports. That's not something that just popped up, and Lebron knows that. As many have already pointed out, he was the one that went to MIA chasing rings. Nobody told him to do that. He did it because he knows winning is important when you're trying to make a case for ourself as the best.
