Rap has and always will be competitive. But niggas aren't killing Jay E because Hov outshined him, it's because Jay E said this was his debut album that niggas have been waiting for for about 10 years. The same niggas you claim can't appreciate his lyrics but somehow were able to with all of his music before this album that created the buzz to begin with.

This was his debut album and he let another nigga outshine him on every song, not 1 or 2, every song.

And you're confused as to why niggas are calling him out on it?
I'm not confused. I just said it's two different conversations being had and you are clearly in the conversation that's about "outshining".

I'm looking at who is co signing what in here and just had a revelation.

The critique of this being a Hov album is really a knock against Hov. It's like Skip Bayless congratulating Lebron on a win against the Clippers when the Clippers have already been the Lakers twice. It's backhanded. It's saying "look at Hov, fucking up Jay's debut by taking the spotlight"

You're right fam, let's get back to breaking down this amazing content.

Can you do the honors with this Jay E verse?

I ain't the type to let it slide or just ignore it
Whatever you want get into, my nigga, I'm here for it
I had a shot of D'Usse, now the Ace of Spades is pourin'
My vision's twenty-twenty and the feelin' is euphoric
If I'm not on my Harley then I'm on that Panigale
I'm smellin' like a Marley, doin' ninety on the on-ramp and my destiny is callin'
I represent New Orleans
My mama and my grandma and my hero uncle Charlie
I'm tryna catch a body
No, this is not a maybe, it is definitely probably
I'm gon' give you that wasabi
Look, it could be the dance floor or right in your building lobby
It could be in Lagos or Seattle or Chicag-y
Hotel lobby Grammy after party, it's what-avi
I'm down to catch a body
I drop a gear, I disappear, then re-appear
Then dump the clutch and wheelie down the highway
My debut album featurin' Hov, man, this is highway robbery
It's like I hit the lottery, I busted the piñat-y
Now I'm hot like a tamale, it's just like I caught a body
It will be pandemonium if I show up to the party
May all my haters hit they knees and throw up in the toilet

Even tho the bulk of the convo is based on the notion that Jay's verses were better, because of the subject matter I think most of us are looking at the content itself. When Jay E debuted, he came from a perspective not seen as much in the mainstream. His POV was sorely needed in the state of things. Now that time has circled around again, and both of them are on the same page contentwise.

To answer your question "who needs to hear this?", I honestly think everyone should. This issue isn't that Jay had a better showing or that Jay E underperformed for a debut, especially for someone that was hyped as the next level of rap for over a decade (at least to me it isn't). The issue is whether ppl will be able to receive the message and apply it to their own lives.

Right now we're all going thru some kind of strife, especially with this whole coronavirus thing. I previously stated that Jay's perspective on the Black/human experience was what a lot of us wanna hear and he's clearly giving us that. I think in hindsight ppl will look back on this album and appreciate the fact that a middle aged billionaire was able to express this level of humanity. As someone who is currently unemployed, facing eviction and going thru a plethora of mental issues, I cannot for the life of me give one single solitary fuck about what Jay E has to say on a human level, cuz his message is too tangled in arbitrarity.

Victory lap shit talking. No, not his best verse so why you keep highlighting it?

True True

What about this one?

Duaa's up for the honorable Louis Farrakhan
Who pulled me out the grave and pointed me towards the Sunnah
Remember Rappin Duke, Duh-ha duh-ha
You never thought we'd make it to Lā 'ilāha 'illā llāha
It's the day of the judgment, fulfilment of the covenant
These universal truths remains self-evident
R-O-C stands strong like Sphinx do (Uh)
Now who wan' come test the champion sound?
Limb by limb, we all gon' cut 'em down
Send for the axe, take out the tongue
Tell the Parkway posse, yeah
Tell the Parkway posse, yeah
Get the gat, get the gat, get the gat (Gat)
From the Mag to that Melph to the Caliope
Where they at? Where they at? Where they at?
