Welcome To aBlackWeb

Is Lil Kim the most influential female rapper of all time?

Foxy and Kim was bubbling at the same time. Kim made it first by a few months.
Not to me they wasn't

I heard Kim first

IDC if Kim dropped on Monday and Fox dropped on Tuesday,Kim did it first.

W/out Kim Foxy probably would have been more like a Rage,A hardcore rapping chick more focused on spitting hard instead of the sexual imagery.

You can’t really prove that one way or another but it is what it is

The only proof I have is that Kim was the first to damn near be like a female pornstar on songs so I can't say Foxy would have pioneered some shit we had never heard before.

Off Topic I like both of them, but Kim had a better career

I'm not the biggest fan of female rappers and I wouldn't ride around playing LiL Kim's more sexy freaky songs, but Kim got like 3 really solid albums.

I think I might like Foxy's rhyming patterns a little more, but Kim can rap rap

I also think that Kim probably wrote more.I know BIG wrote some early shit.

Jay wrote a lot of that Foxy debut I think,or at least a few

by Foxy's second album, minus Jay you could hear the drop in talent

her 3rd album was fire though.IDK who spearheaded that shit.

Along with the sexy angle both of these chicks could rap.

How doesn't it?

How can I claim that Foxy would have automatically pioneered some shit that somebody else did?
I said I wouldn’t put Foxy in the same category with the others because they came out around the same time. That’s been my point. Like even if AI give props to Kobe I can’t say Kobe was a influence to AI on the same level as a Jayson Tatum. Makes sense?

There is direct and indirect influence. Todays artist might not have listen to Kim but they were definitely influenced indirectly. So any new female artist that listens to say Nikki or Trina, they are indirectly influenced by Kim because Nikki and trina were influenced by Kim.

Biting was really frowned upon back in those days so I don’t know. You couldn’t be a biter and be taken seriously.

Actually Kim got 4 solid albums

All 4 of her albums are all pretty good

Notorious KIM might be the weakest, but it's still a good album and had huge singles.

Notorious Kim suffered from the loss of BIG and and the sophomore jinx, but still went over platinum.

We love to romanticize, but for every Onyx, there's a Da Youngstas, Down with the King era Run DMC,and Hoodratz

You could make the case that Jay wouldn't have had the imagery he had w/out BIG making hustle /big willy talk popular.

Who’s romanticizing? You’re saying that it wasn’t frowned upon?

Doesn't matter who came out first. You can be influenced by people that come up after you.

Influence isn't linear.

Within the context of the O/P...........she is.

Simply because she fathered..............or, should I say "mothered".............all of these young birds' styles.

Not musically, but in terms of how they use their sexuality to further their careers.
