You right. I keep reading and writing kick-offs and thinking kicks in general. Games have at least 2 kick-offs but there are usually more punts, so you get quite a few kicks every game. My point is that field position matters, and a good returner will give you better field position. That's important when you're team's offense isn't very good.

Every FG kicker on every team is more important than Kickoff return

FG kickers can't do shit unless they are put in FG range. The people who put yards up are the ones that get FG kickers in range. During his time in CHI Hester put significant yards up as a returner. If you want to say CHI's FG kickers were more important than Hester, that's fine, but they needed him a lot more to be productive than he needed them.

A kick returner can’t do shit if his team don’t block

Don’t do this. You will lose

lol That's a silly rebuttal. No position does anything within a play without help from others. Football is a team sport. Kickers need snappers and blockers too. That's not what I was talking about and you know that. A kicker's ability to to make play is almost entirely dependent on how well the other phases play. That's not the case for a returner. Again, as a player in CHI, Hester's plays had far more impact on enabling kickers to make plays than the other way around.

A good FG kicker >>>>>>>>>> A great returner

Like I said, I won't really argue that point. You could probably say that about a lot of positions on the field. After all FG kickers score the most points out of all positions.

my entire point is, I feel his career ending shouldnt be in the same place as Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Tom Brady, Ray Lewis etc...

Outside of his first two years he wasnt spectacular

Now that I think about it, if We're picking 53 players + 53 players to play against each other, I might pick Hester around 5-10.

If he can get a return for a touchdown a few times in a season it's worth it.

Even if it's just one game, I can't think of anybody else I'd rather return the kick.

I don't hold him in the same regard as those players. My argument for him being in is that he's the best ever in that particular position and I believe that's HoF worthy. If people don't agree, that's fine.

Isn't there a thread for stupid post? This should be in it. This is one of the dumbest sports takes I've ever read unless you're trolling. Then my bad for not picking up on it.

@Bow to Royalty So you're saying that if you were picking teams, you wouldn't pick the absolute greatest kick returner in the history of the NFL? And you wouldn't pick him early?

And no I'm not trolling.

And lemme guess, you wouldn't pick Adam Vinatieri either?

Bruh, he's right. You trippin. I think they underselling Hester, but there's no way in hell he should be a top 5-10 pick in your all time team. That's just ridiculous.

Ya, it's not like he was giving you a ton of TD's. And no I wouldn't pick him. Shit, if he can stay healthy, give me Desean Jackson as my PR/KR/WR over Hester as my KR/PR/WR. He's on the field more, giving you more big plays, and opens underneath stuff up for other receivers. Plus he can return kicks fine. And DJAX isn't one of the GOAT receivers or anything.

I'd take Vinatieri. There's no other non-kicker option to fill his role. There are other really good return men that are also very good at their primary position. I don't know who else is a great FG kicker.

Just to be clear, Devin Hester wouldn't be one of your first 10 picks?

I stand by what I said.

Hes not a HOF IMO. Ill take any good kicker in the NFL over the best KR/PR to even play

I'm still torn on it. I still want to lean yes, since he's the most accomplished return man the NFL has seen.

But I still don't think very highly of the position...same way people aren't really high on other ST positions.
