HBO His Dark Materials

bet. Thanks. I'll finish off the season and then peep the movie and see which one I think did it better.

Which one you think is better so far since you seen both and read the books possibly?
Book
Show
Movie

Its just the matter of being able to flesh out the story more. The trilogy really picks up in book 2, which season one is starting to incorporate, so I think it has the ability to get better

Visually the movie was nice but it was rushed like a mofo.

I got to like ep 3. Idk...I like it but I'm not into it yet.

I'm interested in the book series tho.

I know everybody says this but the books are way better than the the movie and the show.

Phillip Pullman's use of language is top-notch. I saw him speak once and he's one of those people that can even just talk conversationally and it sounds like prose.

I just need him to finish the last book of the new trilogy before he gets too old.

I need to read the new trilogy, I own the original.

Season one dragged at some points but I liked the twists at the end.

Light skin yute about to die? Cause he's a lead on a Netflix show too.

@Chicity based on the season 2 trailer is this going past the movie?

I still havent watched the film lol

It is. They kinda went past the movie in the first season by having the parallel story with Will Parry going on. I'm giving them this next season to justify that decision. But if Lee Scorsby starts rapping I'm pulling the plug on this whole production.

Also from the trailer it looks like they're leaving out a major character and plotline from the second book. Hopefully it's because they either a) don't want to show too much or b) are hoping for a third season that doesn't end the series. But this shit is looking mad iffy. Everything they showed could have been the first two chapters of the Subtle Knife.

I'm about to give this show a chance, I'm skeptical on this type of show but we'll see if it's any good

OK that was a good start to the subtle knife. I feel like they were doing some fan service there and who knows wtf they have planned but at least they're acknowledging that this shit is based on some source material.

Lol I went into this with no knowledge about what it was. Just been watching HBO Max stuff. I may have seen the movie years ago but don't remember anything about it.
So does the other network get new releases before HBO Max?

It's made in conjunction with the BBC and it's looking like for this season the BBC is getting their shit a little early although that could be a marketing ploy (like a calculated leak or the Brits have a holiday coming up that we don't have and they'll even out sooner or later).
