nope.

cause the mentally ill folks that commit these atrocities were already known to be mentally ill and that's indisputable.
 
You should be required to get a gun license exactly like a driver's license.

You'd have to take a safety course for each type of firearm (handgun, shotgun, long rifle) and pass a background check before being issued a license.

All other permits (conceal and open carry, marksman, hunting, holster, etc.) would be added to your license after you've completed those courses.

Your license could be used to access all courses you've taken, background check history, all firearms registered to you, all gun safes registered to you, and all special permits.

If you are for any reason found to be a verified risk to yourself or others you would have to surrender your license and registered firearms or risk severe fines and/or possible jail time.

Yup! Look into it, you'll be surprised. The majority of mass shooters were known to have been mentally unstable at a minimum, outright crazy on the far end. The Virginia Tech shooter was court ordered to have a psych eval and was declared to be mentally ill and in need of hospitalization.

But there are a lot of crazy people that don’t shoot up schools. How are you going to pinpoint the ones that would?
 
Did ya'll know there's a mega drought on the west coast now? The nation seems to be slowly running out of drinkable water as crazy as that sounds.

Of course climate change is another problem our nation refuses to address in any meaningful manner. Bright side is that if we all die from cataclysmic weather and environmental conditions, the gun issue will finally be solved. That actually sounds like a more likely solution than our government actually doing something meaningful.
