Fixing The DCEU

Just posting this because it's on topic

they generalizing too much.....i get it's a slide show....

but i'll respond to each slide

DC being too late, and DC thinkg they're too late are two different things....

DC was never too late.... they just needed to take the time to ellt he right stories to build the anticipation to other stories.....

it never had to be a race... looking at it as a race hurt them

i can agree with this one.....they definitely rushed the mashups....i said yesterday bvs should have been stretched over 3 movies.....batman and superman shouldn't have faced off till years down the road of the a DCEU

also agree, snyder had too much creative control for a guy who didn't understand the characters or the universe......this should have been geoff's ball from the jump

half wrong/ half right....it doesn't need to be director driven as much as it needs to be story driven.... they need to have the right stories, and assigned the directors based on what they can do with the stories provided..... a lot of these movies had re shoots, and re writes that butchered the stories being told.....write a story, and stick with it......this is why i think a production company that understands the material will be a drastic improvement

just wrong.. they obviously have no idea who geoff johns is....and now he's in the right position to really bring this back around...feigie may be a fan, but johns is a creator....he actually has more talent to do more than feigie has done, he was just in the wrong position to do it, and has since moved to the correct position to produce a better crop of movies

Negative.

He has more influence over the finished product now.

Which was the whole point of making the moves he made.

They were made in direct response to the mistakes wb execs have made in the past. By using his own production company he's effectively blocking them from any creative control at all.

You'll see the difference. Like I said, you see mad ghost, you gonna see a good movie

Just watch..... First movie from that production studio that's crap and I throw in the towel myself....

But I'm positive going forward DC movies will be the quality they're supposed to be

No. He. Doesn't

WB has final say like they have for the past 5 years or so. You just hoping they don't change anything Geoff Jons gives them.

Slim the directors/writers had creative control......til WB excs got hold of it and decided to change things. And like I said as long as they are there and unwilling to let the directors/writers product stand on it's own then....

:js4:

you're wrong.....

simply bcuz that's the whole reason for the mad ghost production company n the first place....the whole reason johns stepped down....to prevent that from happening in the future...

but you don't wanna hear that from me. you wanna see it.. so you'll see it with the mad ghost produced DC movies.....

first up aquaman

No I'm not.

Let Geoff Johns hand them(WB) something they don't like and feels needs to be changed.

Guess what's gonna happen. The same thing that happened to JL and Suicide Squad

i can 100% guarantee that will not happen with any movie made from geoff john's production studio going forward

they recognized what they were doing wrong and have placed full confidence in this solution.

just watch and see....

i've yet to hear any of the issues with any of these movies they had in the past

DC could do well to take some of the B and C list roster and develop good flicks around them like Blue Beetle, The Question, Booster Gold or somebody like that, tie it into the overall DCEU, and shoot for something big down the line. Forget about JL characters for now except in cameos to tie them all together. Just make good movies that people would want to see.

Who is they?

The same ones that didn't like the original cut of SS, so they decided to change it. And when that was a flop, they decided again to do the same thing w/ JL.

Those people are still running WB.

again....

it's a new production company.....this is the step that needs to be taken to fix the dceu...it's here

for the umpteenth time.....

Geoff Johns stepped down from his office CEO role to start a production company to have more hands on creative control over the product, as well as write when needed.....

the production company is brand new.

it is called mad ghost productions

the first movie is aquaman.

i think WB realizes the mistake they made in the past with over interfering, and do not wish to make that mistake in the future....which is why dude is running shit out of his own company...

you think that WB execs are going to do the same thing they did with JL and SS.... but they're not...

if they do..then they don't wanna make good movies.. it's that simple.. if they don't place trust in johns and his team, then they are saying they want to lose money and blow budgets on crappy films...

i'm sure they want their films to do well and make money.....and there has yet to be once thing surface that leads me to bleive that any of these upcoming movies are running into any of the problems of the past.....

at the end of the day, you believe the WB execs are going to interfere with the movie....

you have no reason other than they did it in the past...

i say they're not. and my reasoning is that an former exec and ceo of DC is personally taking charge of producing the films himself....

so fr they haven't changed shit about aquaman since filming started.
they haven't changed shit about shazam since filming started
they havnet had any issues since wonderwoman 1984 started filming...

the issues of the past are over... i don't know how u don't see it....

Just have faith that Johns is gonna bring it home....

at this point you're coming off as a hater who doesn't want DC to win....especially considering they've fixed the things that hurt them in the past

i think it's clear they've learned from their mistakes...

A simple way to end this argument would be to post a link to your source stating that Johns has full autonomy and final say on the projects he does. No point in the back and forth.

DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns will be stepping down from those roles to launch Mad Ghost Productions. Along with launching Mad Ghost Production, Johns entered into an exclusive agreement with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment to “create content across multiple divisions of the Studio, including films, television and comic books, based on current DC properties as well as new and reimagined IP.”

“Geoff is a super talented writer and truly embedded in the DC Universe and its characters,” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “We’re thrilled that he’s returning to his passion and his roots as a writer and producer. And, it’s even better that he’s staying in our Warner Bros. family. We look forward to working with him on ‘Green Lantern’ and other projects going forward.”

Johns now goes from the executive ranks back to the creative world, a realm which he never truly left. Even as he was promoted to DC Entertainment president in 2016 and retained the title of chief creative officer, which he had held since 2010, he continued to pen some of DC’s biggest books. And, more impactfully, he was key in launching the TV empire based on DC’s heroes, co-developing The CW’s most successful superhero show, The Flash, and, with Peter Roth and WBTV, launching Supergirl and Black Lightning, among many others.

The move in essense unshackles Johns from the boardroom and positions him to be a major force and supplier of content just as Warners' need and audience demand for that sort of material rises like a mercury on steroids.

"I took on a role at DCE because I love the characters and this universe more than anything. But, I want to spend my days writing and on set," Johns said Monday in a statement. "I’m thrilled to get back to a more hands-on creative role. It’s a dream job on dream projects, reaching even deeper into DC’s vast pantheon of characters."

remember everyone saying the arrow verse is doing what the dceu should have been doing....

Slim NONE of this shit say he has full autonomy and final say on the projects like Mister said.

All it says is he's even more hands on, creatively, then he was as CEO. Which we already established.

Nowhere did it say that Kevin Tsujihara wouldn't interfere w/ the product if he so pleases. Like he did w/ SS & JL.

Like I said you HOPE he doesn't do that w/ Geoff Johns projects.

I failed to find anything like that as well. I thought he dropped indisputable evidence on your head at first.

We're 18 years into a run of movies based off comics. Marvel had a mix of good flicks (X1/X2, the first couple of Spiderman Flicks, Blade 2 and 3) and few duds, particularly the first Hulk, Daredevil, Elektra, both FF flicks and Ghost Rider.

By the time the first two MCU flicks came out in 2008, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, All we had from DC was Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Superman Returns. The very next DC flick was Watchmen, which was either really good or really shitty depending on who you asked.

The problem for DC is that Marvel is a household name for their movies, even the shitty ones. DC is playing catch up and their first attempt at creating a cinematic universe has been a complete and utter failure. Even if Johns makes it happen and the next string of movies are excellent, they're still saddled with the preceding 18 years of slow responses and disappointment.

and this is just bullshit.....

DC has not had 18 years of disappointment

they literally dropped 3 rushed movies in a 2 year period that could've been a lot better if handled well....

yall niggaz overreact so much

I love all the speculation instead of simply waiting to see just how this plays out. Everyone just knows what they believe is true. Will even have arguments over it.

This quote feels appropriate.

This quote feels appropriate.
i keep telling them to watch and see....

niggaz talking about wb execs gonna interfere, when it was only 3 movies that were rushed out (bvs,jl,ss)

everything else has been pretty much allowed to be great....just allow dc to be great and stop hoping for the worst
