They talked about it on the Budden Podcast about a week ago. I never understood the hate WATTBA received. What are other albums that received a lot of hate but were actually dope?

This album doesn't have much replay value in 2019, but when it came out it was unlike anything anybody had ever heard. It's a 5 mic classic because of the impact it made when it came out, but the abstract nature along with the skits is less appealing now.

But yeah, Three Feet High & Rising was one of the first albums with skits and interludes.

It Takes A Nation Of Millions, Three Feet High & Rising & Paul's Boutique all changed the landscape of Hip Hop. Those are the first albums that took sampling to the next level.

Now, in 2019 it's impossible to make an album like that because the sample clearances.

I've never heard hate for this album. The praise for it has been pretty universal.
