Welcome To aBlackWeb

Do You Live In The Same City You Were Raised In?

Nah.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware......now currently living in Brooklyn, NY.

Had to get outta there, but I wouldn't rule out a return. Just not for a while.

Nope. Not even the same country.

And I have lived in a third country too that is different from where I was born and where I live now.

Yea, I’ve lived In other states but I prefer my own. Funny thing is that I feared other southern states racism, till I stayed there and faced reasonably tolerant people. Thats when I realized..ooooooh, I’m “from” the really really racist place ..lol

Tho, Baltimore racism is very annoying, in that, so many of the black population is below the poverty line, that the whites there on basic timing, behave as though they’re better or more privileged than you. Imagine me staying at a Hilton and a white man is smashing the button to close the elevator door…bitch this is a Hilton …you don’t have shit worth stealing

lol I was just laughing with my mom about how when I was coming up, Hilton properties were seen as exclusive and high level. Now they are mid. They still have some nice properties depending on where you go though. That said every Embassy Suites ain't built the same.

You’ve turned into a true Texan. LMAO.

Most Texan’s that aren’t from Austin hate that city. I’m not originally from Texas and lived in Austin for 2 years. I really like the place, but I understand why a lot of folks don’t after moving to San Antonio.

Your response really had me laughing out loud though.

Austin was terrible in my experience. Boring too. This was about 14 years ago though. I'm sure it's not the same place. Outside of 6th St. & Round Rock donuts, I didn't see any appeal in Austin at all. Somebody is going to make a joke about this, but I literally had a cop pull me over and press me because I had Raider decal on my car. He was trying to press me looking for some other shit. It got to a point to where I was being a smart ass and my demeanor went to "Dude why the fuck are you wasting my time?" He admitted that he only pulled me over for having Raider shit on my whip and welcomed me to Texas. I i spent a few days in Dallas and San Antonio just exploring. Both cities are a million times more enjoyable than Austin.

Funny you said Round Rock donuts, I used to live in North Austin not too far from Round Rock!
It's always shit to do in Austin in my opinion. The issue is most folks just stay down south and hit up 6th and Rainey street. There is nothing wrong with either area and you can have a lot of fun there. If you like live music it always concerts and bars having folks playing music. If you like outdoorsy stuff there is cool hiking trails, natural springs and public pools. If you're a foodie, there are a lot of excellent restaurants. tons of great BBQ spots that do traditional BBQ and experiment.

the thing with Austin though........ it's growing too fast and it's a ton of rich assholes there. Like a ton! LMAO. traffic is silly as hell down in south Austin, where the University is located. Lots of homeless/druggie folks in the downtown area acting wild also. LMAO

I know i'm not doing a great job of bigging the city up, but i liked that it was always something going on and some of the odd balls that lived there. I will say though, Portland has way weirder folks and venues that Austin. I lived in Astoria, Oregon and that wasn't too far away from there and the people were all about that hipppy life there. LMAO

I be in Detroit so much, it's like I live there.

I can't wait until I come back next week

Hilton used to be on the level with Four Seasons or Club Med minus the all-inclusiveness way back. Niggas was staying at Knights Inn, Red Roof Inn, or HoJo's unless your parents splurged a bit and upgraded to a Holiday Inn. Nobody I knew could afford to stay at a Hilton in them days.
