Do You Live In The Same City You Were Raised In?

I dont think anyone is saying move just for the sake of moving. Most times folks move out of necessity.. or they want to see/experience something different. Some folks want to make a new start etc.

Have you travelled anywhere and thought maybe you could see yourself living there or that thought never crossed your mind?
Never crossed my mind, all my loved ones are right here, my life is all in the city of Chicago. I have everything I need and want here.

If a better job opportunity opened up then I would consider a move elsewhere but right now I don't see it happening

This. I've lived in basically every state along the southeast coast. I didn't move just for the sake of moving. I did it because different opportunities popped up that required it. I would have just stagnated if I stayed home.

Everyone's different. So if a person is truly happy where they are, I can understand not wanting to leave. I guess I'm just too curious to have ever truly been happy just staying where I was for the rest of my life.

I think what's actually crazy to me isn't so much the people that still live where they were raised. It's more the people who've never really traveled a significant distance from where they were raised.

Forget leaving the country. There are some people that rarely if ever leave their city. I knew a cat that was born in NYC and didn't step foot out of the city until he was 34. That's wild to me.

We talked about this before, but I've always had feelings about integration and black neighborhoods.

We have a lost sense of community. Whenever you are actually in a black neighborhood, that's been black for generations.. With the same families. It hits different imo. Is much more warm and welcome. It feels better. I gotta 13 year old kid with locks who likes to hang out outside with his friends. I ain't gotta worry about some random ass racist stalking him cuz he doesn't look like he belongs.

I don't gotta worry about people snatching packages off my porch, or good forbid I have an emergency and neighbors just mind their business cuz they don't know me and don't really give AF.

I just really appreciate good community. And you don't see a lotta people who also cherish it.

Haven't the California folks help drive up the cost of living out there or is that just Dallas?
It has gotten a bit better on rent, prices have fell compared to where it was just last year and especially down form where it was two years ago. I’m not sure why. I think they may have over built a tad. Meanwhile prices for rent in HTX for example been going up to the point it’s starting to not make sense, like I might as well move to ATX to maximize dollars, almost seems cheaper than HTX now.

This is basically my take. I’ve been able to find any career opportunity I need right here. That’s fairly easy in the accounting field though which is why I chose it. Always jobs and now there’s even a shortage of CPAs so job security is good.

I have everything I need right here. It’s really the devil you know situation, but this isn’t a devilish situation. It’s great.

Nope

I moved to South Jersey first before I moved to North Carolina. I have always said that once you passed Cherry Hill and Camden, you will feel like you are in Alabama. Jersey is low key racist once you leave the big cities.
Word but since I’m separated it’s all good

All of that sounds so crazy to me. I don't get not having left the city until you're in your 30's.

Nope. From The Bay. Lived in Atlanta & Austin. Had to run back West to Vegas. Can't do the south.

Nope. Being a young father & husband forced me to find opportunities elsewhere. Wasn’t shit in Southern Maryland at the time that would let me become more than a working stiff struggling. Living around the country and seeing the world has been an eye opener. The military ain’t for everyone but it afforded me opportunities and connections I feel like I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

While being in Cali (San Diego) is cool I do miss being back home. After my kids get finished with school I plan on going back. At least get a lil closer.

To see what else is out there. A lot of time comfort is born of ignorance. You're cool with your situation because you don't know there's something better. There's nothing stopping you from returning if you find that it really is the best thing for you.
It’s absolutely nothing wrong with saying in one place and no “seeing what else is out there”
