OPINION Dating and Severely disabled children.

yea I mean seeing people strapped to a hospital bed like wheelchair while their parents wheel them around the store is so bizarre to me

you really said to yourself “ yea even tho mason can’t talk, walk, or hear, and has a 50 lb oxygen tank strapped to his thigh, he’s still
alive and all that matters.”

likeeeeeeee wtf?!?

So.... would you put the pillow over his face?

I don’t think a person should bring a child in this world that they know is going to have severe ailments.

like if the doctor told me hey marisa, your child is going to have severe physical and mental issues, I would terminate the pregnancy.

it’s so selfish to me to go along with the pregnancy knowing they won’t be able to have a full life
I agree 100% seeing that I was in this situation 9 years ago. The decision isn’t easy though, man I damn near went crazy trying to do the right thing. I locked myself in the bathroom for hours. We couldn’t make the decision and they gave me a fuckin deadline to make a major decision. I couldn’t. His daddy either. The day my deadline came, was the day my baby came and left.

I didn’t know how to take that shit, my mama had lost her first born too. So she knew what to say, both of our first children were due Oct 4.

Aww man, after the super sadness, I was completely relieved and at peace with everything. My mama knows how to make you see the light.

Then I started fucking like a rabbit to have another one. Two months later I was pregnant AGAIN with another boy. I almost loss the son I have now but I was in that hospital acting a fool.

YALL. GON. DELIVER. THIS. BOY. RIGHT. NOW. IM. NOT. GOING. THROUGH. THIS. SHIT. NO. MO.

I could see if the general consensus was everybody was on the fence, but to just flat out be like nah, compared to some of the other topics that have hills y'all die on all the time, but a person with a disabled child is where you draw the line?

Josh is a brilliant man

What was some of the stuff you had to deal with?
At the school, I worked as substitute class aide. Some classes had all wheelchair adults, some had all walkers, or a mixture.

I changed diapers, emptied male catheters, or either had to assist or lift some ppl out their chair to the restroom.

All had different feeding procedures. Some adults needed their food chopped or at a consistency of pudding. We fed those who couldn't feed themselves ofc. They all had different programs that consisted of activities to help their motor skills or things they needed to work on i.e holding utensils properly, solving puzzles, reading, etc.

I was a dietary aide at the home so I didn't have assist anyone to the restroom or change any diapers. I would help feed them even though I wasn't required to. It started out as 15, but 2 had passed away my time there. They were all wheelchair bound. Anyway, I just prepared each person's meals according to their diets. About 6 or 7 of them had to have their food chopped very fine in a food processor, but it was only one I had to actually use a blender and this product called "Thick It". It seems like a lot, but I got used it lol.

At my job where I take care of disabled adults they have behavioral issues, I've been punched in the face, kicked, almost bit once, scratched the fuck up. Its a job that requires an amazing amount of patience and understanding. I work with adults who are high functioning though so they can take care of themselves for the most part.
