politics aside i am curious on how they managed to get comparable if not better results with seemingly lesser hardware 🤔

I gotta do some more research

I mean sure it might be easier to train your models when you stealing mad peoples data.. but that still doesnt explain the benchmarks/speed and all that being better unless im missing something

I think if it holds up well the issue for American companies is they don't own the monopoly anymore to hold companies at ransom. This company could drive the price down considerably to force them to be competitive

This biggest concern is now there is going to be a race to steal everyone data/content without paying. I don't have any faith trump will help with regulations

Even if the Deepseek model really costs much less(I need to see proof), America would still lead the way on infrastructure and investment. Simply put, the demand for inference on chip usage/processing will only grow not get less so America will still lead the way

It's great for the open source community, so you're right about it opening up a pathway. For small projects it's big

Deepseek stepped on Trump’s big announcement that these companies would be investing nearly a trillion dollars in building out AI in the US. When Deepseek says they can do it at a fraction of the cost investors started wondering why these companies needed to spend so much money. The ROI got crushed and investors need ROI.
