BRITTNEY GRINER IS NOW FREE!!!!!!

It's just sad at this point.

The government knows there's nothing they can do to release her.............but they're trying to appease the public by acting like they can.

The phrasing says it all.

The State Dept has said more than once that they're using............."all available means"............to get her released.

Knowing full well that the only chance they have of getting her released is to give some concessions to Putin.

Since the govt isn't willing to give Putin any concessions, that doesn't qualify as an "available means" to get her released.

Plus, how are they saying that her trial begins on July 1st.........but they extended her detention for another 6 months?

Basically, they know the trial isn't going to go in her favor.

Otherwise, if it was going to be a legitimate trial..........there wouldn't be any need for an extension because she'd be released if the trial went her way.

Kinda cruel to lead her family on like this and give them false hope.

It would be better if someone from the State Dept sat down and talked with them to let them know the true reality of her situation.

It's probably safe to assume that her family has details on this situation that the general public doesn't. And who is this "they" you're referring to? The US or Russian government? Because if it's the former then they have no control over the trial date or 6 month extension

U.S. government.

Not in terms of the trial or extension, but by giving the public the false impression that they're doing everything they can to get her released.

Which, in a way, they actually are doing everything they can...........but, like I said earlier, "everything they can" doesn't include giving any concessions to Putin.

Would assume her wife would be vocal about it not being true if that was the case

Yeah, I'm going to go more with the idea that if they were just going to manufacture a crime, they would do better than a little canibus oil in a vape device. I'm betting they probably would have tried to pick a better target for the crime than a WNBA that most people in the nation probably don't know or care about.

I mean if their endgame was to trade the patsy for the Merchant of Death, we gotta believe that this is an opportunity that just fell in their lap and not one they orchestrated.

She going have to take that 3-5 year sentence on the chin and maybe rethink vaping THC in foreign lands.

This is beyond an unfortunate situation based on a silly choice. No country should move the way she's being handled in Russia...

Gaylen Grandstaff was hemmed up for 608 days in pretrial detention for ordering a cleaning product that had an illegal substance he knew nothing about back 2017, still in Russia

Marc Fogel has been held since Aug 2021 over medical marijuana and was a former embassy worker

But based on some of these situations... this is how Russia plays

Fogel got 14 years, I think.

I feel for Griner, this is horrible. You gotta move a little smarter than that when you in some of these other countries, though.
