Anthony Joshua injured in car crash that kills two in Nigeria a week after Jake Paul fight
Star boxer Anthony Joshua was reportedly injured in a horrifying car crash that killed two people.
Star boxer Anthony Joshua was hospitalized after being injured in a horrifying car crash in Nigeria that killed two on Monday morning — less than two weeks after he knocked out Jake Paul during a Miami bout, according to multiple reports.
Joshua, 36, was traveling in the back of a vehicle that had a tire burst while on a highway, and the driver of the car lost control as a result before crashing into a stationary vehicle, Ogun State Police Commissioner Lanre Ogunlowo told ESPN.
A photo emerging from the crash from Punch — an outlet in Nigeria — showed a shirtless Joshua, who reportedly sustained minor injuries, with broken glass around him.
An eyewitness told Punch that there were two vehicles traveling together from Joshua’s party and that the boxer’s security team “was in the vehicle behind them before the crash.”
The person in the passenger seat and the person who sat next to Joshua — reportedly seated behind the driver, per the eyewitness — “died on the spot,” according to the Punch report.
Both of Joshua’s parents are Nigerian.
One eyewitness tells me that the vehicle Joshua was in hit a large truck transporting soybeans, which had broken down on the road on Sunday.
The impact destroyed parts of the truck, including its tyres.
The witness says Joshua remained inside the vehicle for nearly 10 minutes before bystanders called out to him, helping him regain consciousness.
The Nigerian Road Safety Corps arrived at the scene and removed the damaged truck from the road, the witness adds.

Ogun's state government says the two people killed in the crash were "two male foreign nationals", according to preliminary reports.
As we've been reporting, two passengers were unscathed, while Joshua - who was in the backseat - sustained minor injuries.
Ogun's government says Joshua and the driver were rescued from the car by security personnel travelling with him.
