World boxing champion Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton has been found dead at his home in Greater Manchester.
The Stockport-born fighter was 46 years old. A police cordon was in place at his home in Gee Cross, Hyde this morning (September 14).
Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that a body has been found and said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The devastating news comes months after the legendary boxer announced his return to boxing with a fight planned in December.
Mr Hatton, who would have turned 47 in October, had spoken openly about his struggles with mental health and drug addiction.
He survived suicide attempts and overcame an fall out with his family who he made up with after addressing his own mental health.
During his boxing career, he held multiple world championships, as well as UK titles, and was named Fighter of the Year in 2015.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances."

Just got a massive shock when this popped up on our main UK sports channel... Im absolutely gutted, cant even put into words how this hit me...

He held British boxing down in the early 00s and watching him in my teens to early 20s are some of my fondest boxing memories... We will never see a boxer outside of America bring over 20,000 British and Irish fans to Vegas, that was just mental...

Hatton was one of the top 5 biggest house hold names in the UK during the 00s and still mainstay celeb now...

Everyone loved him and he never needed security, would drink in local pub with regular people, he was just a regular working class kid done well...

RIP...

BTW the boxing panel on Netflix was awful... The state of pundiry seems to getting worse across all platforms...

One of them said Canelo was wobbled at one point which was just crazy and Max's weird 'bring ass to get ass' comment was strange... Also his post fight interviews are terrible too, dude always takes an age in between words 'So... How... Did... You... Win... To-night... Ter-rance???'...

Yeah I know he was quoting Toney but was still very werid choice to use for comontary... Toney was using it as trash talking for a fight lol

Ive never like Max's post fight interviews but dig his enthusiasm as fight fan...

I voted canelo would win in a decision but it was amazing to see Crawford do what he did. Was a great fight.

The fucking rollout to the main event wasn't needed though. Took forever for the walkout to start. Could even see Crawford just sitting there waiting to walk out lol.

Also wild that Dana brought John anik over to commentate on the boxing match while ufc had a event going on. Usually UFC Noche is a big event every year. Did it at the sphere last year, but that oil money made Dana skip that lol.

Boxing definitely needed the push turkei is giving it. Would be wild to see him drop some money into the ufc like that as well, but hes already got some exciting fights for boxing and looking forward to what comes in the future.

I really hate the misuse of the word GOAT. The clue is with the A.

Shout out to Bud. I didn't think he could win a decision but he put on such a clinic even the judges couldn't deny his greatness.

I think he made of point of clarifying that he was talking about G.O.T.E (Greatest of this Era) not G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time). Stupid, I know, but I don't think he was misusing GOAT.
