Different studies show that African-American women are more likely to get divorced than women of other races. Sociologists suggest that it may be because of lower income and job prospects.

These are the divorce rates of each ethnicity as of 2018 per 1,000:

  • The black divorce rate is the highest among other races: 30.8
  • The Hispanic divorce rate is the second highest: 18.5
  • The white divorce rate makes up almost half of the Black divorce rate: 15.1
  • The Asian divorce rate is the lowest among other races: 12.4

A study by M. Rosenfeld from Stanford University discovered that women started almost 69% of all divorces among about 2,000 surveyed couples.

Black women are the only group among other races with a number of divorces higher than the marriage rate. In 2018, there were 31 divorces among the Black population and 17.3 marriages per 1,000 people.

The share of ever-divorced Black women was 38.9% per 1,000 married women in 2016, compared to 34.4% for Whites, 13.9% for Asians, and 33.7% for Hispanic-origin women.

While I'm not discounting this study...that being numbers from 2016 stands out. That's nearly a full decade ago of people in their mid 20s who most certainly aren't living the same lives now in their 30s. I'm sure those numbers would look different in 2024

I think that speaks to people no longer forgiving cheating and just "staying married for the kids." We often romanticize relationships of the past but il betting if alot of people talked to their grandparents and great grandparents many would be shocked at how many of their older relatives would've gotten divorced if they could've
 
I don’t think there is inherently anything wrong with not being married BUT the problem is our society has set up marriage as a key way to build generational wealth

Pooling resources can be very powerful

I think we're also seeing another cultural reset in terms of throughout most of history people didn't marry and stay married for love. That's a relatively new idea in comparison to how long marriage itself has been a concept. So with the current state of going back to being more financially based for some since most people ain't got it marriage isn't as appealing of a thing to do

Human beings always lived in groups.

Human beings always looked toward each other for comfort and security.

Nearly all primates pair bond and pool resources together.

What happened to Black Americans, the non-immigrants, since they actually do marry and shit like everyone else does...

We look towards the government to solve basic problems.

We not only asking the government to do shit like pull lead out of our water, give us government contracts, etc and etc.

We ask for shit like, "Make DeAndreTavious take care of his kids. Make Jaquesha let me see my son."

And the solution to that shit is to fucking marry well.

But since Black Americans have been culturally molded to not have a proper family structure since slavery.

I mean, community dick and pussy is just plantation sexuality.

The White man don't make you not marry and raise a family.

Everyone fucking does it no matter how poor, how hard, how much gender wars going on, they do it because it makes sense.

You got a group of post-secondary educated women drowning in debt, can't find a suitable man to have a family with and deciding to raise kids alone.

Then you have working hard women, drowning in debt, yet aspirational, looking for a suitable man to ease her burden.

And finally, the dregs. The ones that are community pussy and causing chaos.

While the men are largely blobs and cogs in a machine of political scapegoating. The men are always the problem because men are supposed to instill order and lead.

How the fuck can you tell anyone what to do when you can't even finish college and your female counterpart at least got a bachelor degree in a soft ass social science like criminology.

If I learned anything from my statistics course, its that all stats can be manipulated in your favor if you show them right. One thing I don't see a stat for is length of marriage prior to divorce. too many factors on why folks choose to get divorced versus why they get married. Every divorce isn't a marriage ending in failure either.

Where all my married folks at on this?
