The same reason she was mad at Tom telling them the story of playing and climbing trees. She basically gave them little chance to survive and for herself to survive. She had no hope that they would make it, it lead to her feeling what's the point of giving them an identity that they can believe in when there is nothing in the future to believe in but survival.
