My choice was Cain….here are my reasons.

Him being the main character, alot of thoughts, and emotions centered around him. He was lost, confused and trying to find his way out..

Yes he was a knucklehead, but he still had a conscience seen more towards the end. He wasn’t so far gone like his other friend O-Dog.

At the last moment he decided to change for good, the consequences of his past followed him anyway…….he had to pay the price

Ricky was innocent, but his death ain’t hit as hard for me. Maybe because the conclusion of Cain’s life is something I relate to because alot of brothers who want to change find out it’s too late

they had us listening to this nigga narrate the whole movie as the main character, then had you thinking he was about to make it out and start a new life only to find out that hes been dead the whole time while recounting the events led up to his demise.

Rickys death hit hard but he did feel more like a side character.

It was Jada’s role and his connection to Pernell that made him change.

Caine was nothing like O-Dog…..that’s why they were put together so you could contrast the two. Remember the first scene in the store??? Cain was the one who knew O-Dog was wrong. You can clearly see Cain had a conscience

Plus all throughout the movie Cain was given warnings…yeah he was hardheaded and finally got it at the last minute. It’s called growing pains

Shit be like that…that’s why it hits harder.


The entire movie was like Cain’s ghost telling the world why he fucked up and he was never as bad as a kid he tried to be
 
We saw Ricky avoiding the streets and get an opportunity to leave the hood to only be taking out before he knew he was going to college. That hit harder and he left a son without a father.

They told that nigga not to bring the football and Doughboy had to get his ass whooped behind it, had a chick pregnant in high school which was fucking with what schools were willing to mess with him, and fuck the schools fam was willing to throw the chance at a scholarship away to go to the army cause he seen a commercial.
He also wasn't separated from the street shit like yall trying to play he was talking cash shit to that other gang at the bbq, and at the parking lot and got caught lacking because it. Matter fact he would have died right there in that parking lot if Doughboy doesn't pull out.

He got pushed for no reason in the parking lot, he just stood up for himself. I don't remember him getting into it at the bbq
