I can speak for myself and say that I bought MC Hammer's album because I liked his video. The album sucked; Worst album I ever bought.
If I had just heard the song I wouldn't have bought it, but since they played his video every day for 2 months it grew on me and I bought it. Not because I liked the song, but I figured if they played his video every day he must be good (I was about 14/15 years old at the time)
