old interview with pepa of salt n pepa speaking on will smith

Known globally for her success as a member of the Hip-Hop group Salt-n-Pepa, Sandra “Pepa” Denton has taken time to look back at her history. While reminiscing she goes back to the time when she was talking to rapper turned actor Will Smith and has shown some regret to not actually dating Smith.

In an interview that was posted by GlobalGrind the former rapper gives an account of her encounter with the Fresh Prince.

“I thought Will was really cute and we would hang out a lot on the road. He liked to take care of me and never let me spend a dime. He was that kind of guy, real generous. I remember when they won their first award, he asked me to go out with him afterward. He was so excited. We were walking along the street getting ready to grab something to eat, and he just gave this homeless guy $100 dollars…I sometimes kick myself when I think about what could have been. He was so nice to me, but I really wasn’t feeling him. I guess I couldn’t appreciate a nice guy like Will Smith. He wasn’t thug enough. I was attracted to thugs and hoodlums. Will was too nice to me.”

As with most women in their early ages, the tough guy seemed to be more of an appeal as opposed to what Smith had to offer.

“I liked people like Louis Burrell (MC Hammer’s brother). He was rough, he was street and he didn’t pull any punches. He would walk around with a cane and pimp hat. He always referred to women as b**ches.” Even with all that, I liked him.”

Denton released her autobiography Let’s Talk About Pep in August 2008 where she chronicled her life and gave a behind the scenes glimpse of the fame, family, failures and accomplishments that accompanied her during her peak as a celebrity. In it she speaks on her relationships and dealing with failed marriages and trying to escape from domestic abuse. Now no factual names were released in the book and pseudonyms replaced names but everyone can read between the lines and make their own judgment to who she may or may not be referring to.

Her first baby daddy was crazy as fuck

When ET spoke with Jada in October 2018 after her and Will's extremely revealing two-part Red Table Talk episode together, she also talked about needing "freedom" and feeling restricted.

"I just felt like, I needed more freedom," Jada said about the issue between her and Will after they acknowledged they hit a rough spot in their marriage when Jada cried for 45 days straight. "And freedom in the sense of like ... the public wants you to be a certain way, your family needs you in a certain way, your partner needs you to be something. And for me, that just was never ... I'm really a free spirit at heart, I really am. And I always have been. And I just felt like my life had got constricted into this little box and it was strangling me, basically."

Ultimately, she told ET that it wasn't up to Will to resolve the issue in their marriage.

"It wasn't his fix," she said. "And so it was really me having ... People very rarely talk about the courage it takes to be happy -- how much bravery it takes to be happy. And really, that's what I needed to gain, was the courage and the bravery to do what Jada needed to do, to be happy, you know? And that was to dissolve everything that was and create something completely different."

Interestingly enough, in a resurfaced video taken from Will's Instagram Story in 2018, he said he was "retired" from trying to make Jada happy.

"I literally said to Jada, 'That's it. I retire. I retire from trying to make you happy. I need you to go make yourself happy and just prove to me that it's even possible,'" he said. "And after we cracked the hell up, we started talking about how we came into this false romantic concept that somehow when we got married that we would become one. And what we realized is that we were two completely separate people on two completely separate individual journeys and that we were choosing to walk our separate journeys together. Her happiness was her responsibility and my happiness was my responsibility."

"We decided that we were going to find our individual, internal private separate joy and then we were going to present ourselves to the relationship and to each other already happy," he added at the time. "Not coming to each other begging with our empty cups out, demanding that she fill my cup and demanding that she meet my needs. It's unfair and it's kind of unrealistic and can be destructive to place the responsibility for your happiness on anybody other than yourself."

If Will is a logical person which he is, more than likely he was fuckin the lights out of mad chicks, especially separated. To be accepting of it means that in his mind "well I was doing my dirt, she can have this one", they were separated because that's the choice he made. Will isn't an angel and I think people are so focused on the Fresh Prince and not Will Smith the man that they're ignoring the fact that Will more than likely has done his dirt.

Jada is toxic, we know that and chances are within 10 years they will separate again and probably for good that time.

He pretty much confirmed that he has fucked other chicks, but like I said before, the nigga said he did so to get her back. I don't think anyone has said Will is an angel or hasn't cheated. They've been accused of being in an open relationship, which implies that they both are fucking other people. What people are saying is that the terms of this weird relationship don't really seem to be mutually desired. Based on the things that have been said and the way Will tends to react, their relationship is the way it is because Jada runs wild and Will is willing to bend and accept it to keep her. It doesn't matter how many other chicks he's fucked if he's really only doing it because he can't get his wife to be true to him.

In the end, none of us knows the whole truth, and honestly none of us should care. I'm mad at myself for putting this much thought into this nonsense.

I think maybe if dude was in full control of his mind it would just be a smash an
