Because they're not looking for true equality. True equality means they would have to give up any preferential treatment they currently receive and when you really get down to it, they ain't about that life.
True equality means that women convicted of sex offenses against minors would receive the same prison time as their male counterparts as well as sex offender registration at the same tier as males that commit the same crimes. It also means that females accused of sex crimes against males will be treated with the same seriousness when the opposite happens.
For that matter, true equality means that female criminals would receive the same punishments for their crimes as a male. As it stands now their sentences are routinely far lighter; that would go away.
True equality means that women would be compelled to register for the draft at 18 and, should a conflict arise where the draft is once again enabled, they would be forced to serve in the same numbers as men.
True equality means that if you're on unemployment, and a job in construction, mining, or any other physically demanding job is offered to a woman she will be compelled to take the job or lose her unemployment benefits, just as a man would.
True equality means that women would completely lose automatic custody of their children and custody would then be awarded based on which parent has the greater capacity to care for their children's needs. Biology would be taken completely out of the equation
True equality would mean that women would be on the receiving end of the bullshit men have had to deal with just as much as men and that's something they genuinely don't want to have happen.

Men have ordered other men to do so because we are "supposed" to fight for such things without thinking and we're expendable in that way. It's the whole reason why, in 2018, only men are eligible to be drafted to war.
And to bring up women being abused and killed over an ideology without also mentioning that men that have died for similar reasons tells a lot about how you think.

I didnt mrntion men because you asked about women. You just showed an example of men being killed for religion and ideology. War. Women are also victims in these wars.
But men dont get killed for losing their virginity. Might be killed for being gay but never for being sexually active.
But further if men set the standards for centuries and these things became expected wouldnt it be on us to stop oppressing ourselves
