2024/2025 NBA Season Thread

Added to Calendar: 10-22-24

For me it was Dr.J. Crazy bcuz my family had season tickets to Lakers games at the Forum.

Developed a loyalty to the team and watched how the franchise mishandled Barkley.

Then stayed loyal during some very dark times. Hated them niggas tho.

Iverson restored the feeling.

The Process is putting gray on my chin.
80''s you had Bird and Magic
90's you had Jordan
2000's you had Shaq and Kobe

For a decade+ after that you had Bron, Wade and Melo.

All those players brought the casuals in.

Do the league have that type of super star player now?

Thankfully youngsters didn't listen to the dusty NY lovers complaining about "mumble rap" and said you fucking old and made their music.

Now since the Washed failed to ruin Hip Hop music with their lack of taste, they are coming for the NBA. We need to kindly remove people that are out of step with the times from our institutions.

Adam Silver need to give the Washed half a bar. Triple entendre, don't ask me how.

We have to define what a casual is.

Is it a grandma when watching GSW vs. Spurs, they don't know anybody on the court besides Stephen Curry?

Or is it someone that follows the NBA casually and occasionally watch highlights at work?

The issue with the NBA is that they embraced the streaming model and games aren't easy to watch. Someone that don't know anybody besides Stephen Curry and Lebron can't find a game on TV.

The person that casually follows the NBA, can get all the highlights from Twitter, Reddit and YouTube.

And if you are die hard fan, you gonna find the games you want to watch and pirate the shit.

There isn't an incentive to watch the NBA on TV until the playoffs. I think the NBA knows that and created the Play-In to get people watch it on TV, but it isn't going to work.

The NBA doesn't have a superstar problem, they have a distribution problem. They aren't following traditional media and they have a subset of washed fans that grew up playing GTA 3 and buying TMacs or remember Magic Johnson in his prime, that are highlighting ratings and complaining about the game.

80's CBS
90's-2000's NBC
Bron, Wade and Melo Basic cable

Casuals knew what channel the game was on it wasn't extra out of pocket money to watch. NFL does crazy numbers too bcuz the majority of the games are on CBS, FOX, NBC, and ABC. Damn near everybody has access to those channels. You think casuals give a fuck about Jags vs Browns? No. But a lot will watch it if it's free.

He doesn't, he just closed multi-billion dollar deals that was based off of the global growth of basketball and social media engagement.

He ain't gonna tell nobody to eat a dick and don't watch but that's how he feels.

But these young folks will. I don't know why old motherfuckers wanna keep the younger generation from having their version of what they like.

I thought after the old heads loss the Great Hip Hop War of the 2010s they would've learned, but now they moved they old asses to the NBA and about to lose that.

Anthony Edwards already told you he gonna shoot that bitch. Ja Morant said he ain't dunking no more. LaMelo already shooting 25 times a game and half of them threes.

They don't care and the whiners won't win. Motherfuckers gonna get aged out and resort to watching motherfuckers play pick up on Youtube to get their midrange fix. All of these basketball channels on YouTube growing so people can watch "real basketball".

No different than motherfuckers listening to LL Cool J rap at 50 since they can understand what he's saying and pretend it's "real Hip Hop".

People get old, the shit they like changes and when you don't like it no more, they move on. This generation is having a hard ass time doing that and they are loud about it. They wanna fight for everything and look foolish in the process.

He’s part of the problem too.
I only blame him for the all-star shit and that wack ass IST. Still not a deal breaker for me. If I can watch MCW shoot 4-18 with 7 turnovers on the regular, I can watch 7-foot one-dimensional euros shoot 6 threes a game being stanned on by Doris Burke.
