2021/22 NBA Season Thread

I bet Simmons ass would show up to camp if you start docking pay

Ben Simmons has a clause in his contract where he gets HALF his money each year on July 1st and the rest is split up over the rest of the season. Players get their first checks on November 1st. He's making 33 million this year.

Meaning he already got a lump sum of $16.5m on July 1st. And even if they 'dock' his pay, he won't actually start losing any money until November first.

Knowing all that, you really think them telling them his pay is being docked for not showing up to camp is REALLY gonna make him show up?

I disagree. Ben Simmons is most likely NEVER gonna lose any actual money. Because if he DOES decide to show up on Christmas (for the sake of argument), he's gonna do what every other player who held out and was fined did and say 'Fuck it, I'll come come. But fuck them fines, B. I need that back'. And they'll give it back. The teams already know that's how it works and are prepared for that.

And if he doesn't report and is traded...you think that new team is gonna be like 'In order to keep the sanctity of the league in tact and support our partners in Philly, those fines from the 76ers are gonna roll over and we're gonna withhold some of your money'?

Na, that ain't how it works. That boy gon' be aight.

Naw. He miss games and willing to miss the entire season he might fuck around and have a breach of contract and have to give back what they paid upfront and miss the rest of the checks.

And they def ain’t gon give him what he missed.

That will never happen, because a breach of contract means that his contract can no longer be traded. That's hustling backwards for Philly.
