COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

Ur right, but it's still a false conclusion to draw.

Politics intrigue me even tho I don't vote. I don't find what I do self important I'm just interested and these are my viewpoints. On this board it stems from voting threads and the whole non voter vs Democrat debates. This goes back to the IC days. Irl im around a wider variety of politcal beliefs that if it was reflected on here I'd prob just be reduced to a contrarian. I've done the same to my Republican friends. That dynamic simply doesn't exist here so it's never seen.

Did u? And if u did do u agree that y'all is problematic?

You've called me out and I admitted I was wrong more than once. It's ignorance at worst, nothing malicious. I've got a long enough posting history on here.

What specific examples are u referring to where I was recently condescending about racial under/overtones?

It could be false...but thats on you and what you put out. People can only infer from the things you provide. You still are very much contrarian. At times to the point to where you get so stuck on your pov that you don't grasp what's being said. One example would be a discussion thet happened here when some people boycotted or pulled their stuff of Spotify over Rogan. There was multiple posts telling you it was about more than covid and it was more about his racism and you just kept getting stuck on "but he didn't have a covid stance people liked." You finally admitted that was the actual larger point...but your initial digging on and refusing to see another point was an interesting hill for you to die on. Or your staunch defense of Elon Musk and Clay Travis at one point despite evidence to the contrary. There's been times where you get so dug in on trying to point out hypocrisy that you've chosen some weird things to stand on while admittedly ignoring the full context of why a Black person would be in disagreement.

I think when you're in the minority somewhere being aware of the language you use is very important. While it may not be inherently racist, the fact that it can be used that way should be something you're always conscious of. Especially when certain race related topics are being discussed. If you truly don't find yourself that important then that need to jump in on some "well actually" shit wouldn't happen as much. Of course I'm not saying misinformation should fly but in simple discussions or back and forth it shouldn't be hard to say "Nah..ima let that topic/comment sit."

As far as a recent example...the one you just used. The "yall" thing. When it was pointed out instead of sitting back for a second you went into automatic defense mode. Which for you seems to be talking down. And while you may think your intentions are clear when you dealing with an already very sensitive topic that's consistently being egged on by the subject at hand, trump and the racist maga people, it's very easy to generate a reaction like you got when you choose to respond the way you did.

Yes im wrong sometimes. But what u are saying I do, multiple ppl on this board do. Yes I've doubled down and had to concede I was wrong. At least I do it tho lol. I didn't know who clay Travis was when I posted that until u pointed it out.

I just don't see it with "y'all". Id bet a lot of money if I was saying things sneak agreed with he wouldn't have an issue with me using that word, as I've used 100x on here before and never been called out on it.

It's a message board bruh it's like debating as a hobby for me. I don't think Im changing minds and lives im just getting my shit off on down time. None of my posts are having an affect on the outside world. I don't even think I should be getting this much grilling and attn on my 'behavior' unless it was some blatant racist sexist or disrespectful shit that calls for a ban.

I use "y'all" everyday irl. It was ridiculous to me so that's why I responded like I did. I've used it here 100 times this is the first time someone tried tying it to lite racism. I wholeheartedly believe he was being disingenuous and still believe that.

Without even checking receipts I know Stringer and Los gotta be 1a and 1b

In the Palisades fire thread I was hit with a couple titangraphs for criticizing Newsom. Same poster is in here being a hypocrite.

Then there's convos that happen in some of the election threads, the COVID thread had a lot of it, came from diff posters. I mean I'm not gonna pull up posts. But it happens.
I've never seen stringer take an actual position on anything with actual words. All he does is post tweets

Los, I didn't think he was defending Democrats but providing counters to those who were blatantly shitting on them with false narratives

If u don't see it im not gonna bother tryna convince u. We can agree to disagree.

Only you know your intentions. All I'm saying is that i can see the how in why it's read a certain way. Don't even mean I agree with it. I just can see how that conclusion could be drawn. I think what you're missing is that folks ain't looking for the big racism moments. It's what alot of non Black people in general have tried to downplay which is the microagression type shit. And that can cover a whole range of things that quite frankly you simply would never be aware of unless pointed out to you.

You also don't always admit when you're wrong. Sometimes you'll just resort to being condescending as you did with the Clay Travis shit. You never admitted "oh I was wrong." You kept trying to tie what was made and explained to you to be a specifically separate post into some more shit about covid and free speech. Thats what I meant by you digging you. Once you get an idea you tend to stick with that even when told otherwise. Or even with the Spotify shit...you conceded but still had "Yea but what about covid? People still don't like Rogan for that" even admitting that was a small insignificant part of Black people reactions to him.

I think the reason you got grilled is simply because there's times quite frankly when a white person is being condescending towards a Black person it's always going to remind some Black folks of at least a tinge of racism. Is that your fault? No. And you can choose to ignore people reacting that way. That still doesn't mean they won't react like that though.

Also, and this is something many people seem to have a problem with, but there's nothing wrong sometimes with people agreeing on something. There doesn't always need to be some counter take to whatever is being discussed. If something is being done that's fucked up then there's no need always say something about what another person or group does. Just acknowledge what's fucked up or don't and keep it pushing. But when you consistently wanna play the contrarion role then you're gonna get people thinking you're willing to defend some wild shit
