Welcome To aBlackWeb

Is Kamala Harris The Best Candidate For Black People?

If you live in a rust belt state that has a Republican controlled House or Senate or a Republican Governor, what does your education system look like? What's you public school funding look like? Are charter schools being pushed hard in your state by state legislatures? Is abortion legal?
Bruh, Illinois is a Democrat stronghold

Sometimes I wonder if the reason I hate them so much is bc state ran by them, city ran by them

And they're doing such a shitty job around here

We see it with our own eyes

1. When has education been great for black folks? Give me a year and time, we can go back as far slavery, education provided by the president and their policies has always been in the dumps for black folks, from the Black Panthers era to the Brown vs Board of Education era. HBCUs has always lacked funding

No offense, but this is a real ignorant thing to say. What are you using to measure what great education is and did you also apply this to other races as well? Can you answer this same question for other races or do you only want to stomp on Black people?

This is what you stated: What's your public school funding look like? Are charter schools being pushed hard in your state by state legislatures?

I took it as you are stating that if the democratic candidate becomes the president, all of a sudden education will be better. I also took your statement that's bolded as you're saying that if the democratic candidate gets in office, they will pump money into the education system, and this will somehow make education better than what it is currently. I assumed that you think the education that is in its current state is poor or not up to par.

I made my statement off my understanding that the education for black folks has always been poor or subpar and asked when has it every been good when either a democratic or republican been in office.
I thought and learned that black folks always taught their own and were self-sufficient.

Other races, not my issue honestly. What will black folks situation look like is what I'm pushing for

I think that you need to broaden your political spectrum. You'll never be able to understand what Black folks situation looks like if you don't.

What state do you live in and are you familiar with your state politics and how it's structured?

Would you answer my question, how will this new democratic candidate if president, help education for black people? You made the comment about charter schools and public schools as to say these entities are not up to par.

Biden and Trump were in office, that's 8 years combined, do you think the education for black children/teen and adults has gotten better in those 8 years? I would say it's gotten worse, from elementary, to middle school, high school and college. HBCU Funding is not the best.

In your statement, you made mention again about the public school system and charter schools as to indicate that these sectors need improving. Neither party did such. I stated that neither party hasn't done anything to make right about these sectors for black folks going back to slavery. I ask, how will your candidate improve the education fAttach filesor black people in this country when your, the democratic party, nor the republican party hasn't done it in the last 400 or so years?

This is why I asked what state you live in and I said that you need to broaden your political spectrum.

Education is run by the STATE. Not the POTUS.

The affects on education are more heavily influenced by the STATE than the federal government.

Asking which POTUS candidate would make education for Black people better skips past how education is structured in the United States.

I live in Ohio. We have Republican Governor and a Republican controlled State house (House and Senate). Public schools are actively being defunded by Republicans here. We do not have state wide free lunch. That means even if you are poor, your kids do not eat school lunch for free. You have to pay for every single meal.

It cost us $20 per week to feed one child school lunch. We have 4 kids in school. It's $80 per week just for them to eat the same school lunch we had as kids. You know what it looks like. It's the same type of food we had as kids.

On average, childcare cost about $1,500 per month in Ohio. That's on average. For us, daycare cost $2,200 per month. We have one kid in daycare. She's 1 so she's going to be there for at least 2 more years.

So in my state of Ohio, it cost on average $2,520 per month for school lunch and daycare.

Democrats reduced the cost of childcare in Ohio. Under Democrat leadership, Ohioans would've paid on average $700 per month in childcare. Republicans repealed that.

Democrats approved and implemented free lunch. Free as in $0 and your kids eat. Republicans (you guessed it) repealed it.

So when it comes to things like education and childcare, things are drastically different under Republican leadership and Democratic leadership and this is just on the State level. On the national level, things are drastically different there too. I won't get into all of the specifics but let's juts say similar to the examples I just laid out that Democrats and Republicans differ on education and childcare.

Now, ore specifically on Black people. You noticed that I did not point out any single race in those school lunch and daycare numbers right? That's because there aren't different rules for different races like a lot of niggas ant you to believe. There is no national Asan free lunch or Jewish free lunch or even a statewide Latino free lunch or childcare.

None of these things are "awarded" to any race specifically yet you have a lot of Black people asking what democrats or politicians in general are going to do specifically for them. The problem with that mindset is that asking that tries to eliminate Black people from our democracy as if we don't belong or that we can only have things a certain way. It's an empty argument that is designed to lead us nowhere but divided.

Ya'll can argue about this as much as you want but i cant imagine the data agrees with Kamala is the best pick to run for president in the democratic party. Personally ive bought into "the conspiracies" but i know people on here would blow that off, so there is no point of that.

What you're saying isn't exactly true. The Department of Education does impact education across the country quite a bit. It's influence has weakened, but that is in part to the actions of Republican administrations. It's not really accurate to act like Kamala's pick for the Secretary of the Department of Education would have no impact on education across the country.

If she's willing or capable for atoning for some of her previous nebulous choices, I can fuck with that

Again, Democrats control all offices in the state of Illinois. In Chicago u don't even have republicans attempt a campaign for mayor.

They're putting more and more funding into public schools while enrollment and proficiency drops.

I can't sit here and say "those damn Republicans!"
