Also, he is not where he was in life when he made Look What You've Done. Drake is very much a rapper who raps what he lives. You're listening to the raps of a nigga who has been the top guy. I wouldn't expect Jay-Z to sound like Volume 1, 2, or 3 Jay in 2026. Not as a 50-year-old married Billionaire with kids.

The problem with people discussing Drake is that they try to punish him for shit that's sort of unreasonable. He raps what he lives, and he's done it all. Niggas want him to make struggle raps, well, he's not struggling. Even so, he still inserts vulnerable and personal topics in his music. His mom was all over the Scorpion album. In this album, he said his dad has cancer. He always raps about his relationships with his friends and women.

I get what you're saying, but I think that it's incorrect to say that Drake hasn't grown in his music. Making a song with Sexy Red doesn't invalidate the growth in his music.

I said nothing of "struggle raps". And thats not the main criticism lobbied at him either. Because if you remember he was joked about heavily for "Started From The Bottom". Struggle raps has never been his lane. And your Jay comparison is it actually.

You keep proving my point by mentioning he's not where he started at. As Jay got older you could hear it reflected in the content. Went from Big Pimpin to talking about his wife and kids. And yes Drake may still rap about the relationships in his life...but it's the same shit as his 20s. That's the lack of growth and maybe it's a lack of personal growth in his own life. It's even reflected in who he's aligned himself with. Man is 39 out here seeking the approval and high 5s from streamers who cater to teens and 20 year olds. But the paranoid mob boss of Toronto music just don't hit for alot of people.
 
I'd also say with 3 full albums of material...any instant reactions are probably gonna change. No way to truly judge that much music off 1 listen and a couple hrs

The change in Jay's music came way before 444. That was just the pinnacle of it all. Nigga made an entire album with his wife. And again nobody is asking for Drake to make an album full of "im taking my son to school" raps. But he also is still doing way too many "why are you 39 hanging around 20 year olds" songs.
