OPINION What exactly is an industry plant

Cardi B and Lil Kim are more industry plants than Sexyy Red and Ice Spice are.

Red and Ice have musical history before being known figures. Cardi and Lil Kim have none before Love & Hip-Hop/being thrown into a group by Biggie. You can't find a single song, demo, or probably anything that indicated they even wanted to rap at all before then.

Oh shit didn’t know the first song was sexy red

Not really true.

Bad Bunny is known globally. But a LOT of muthafuccas in this country didn't even know who he is. Folks just assume if he wasn't poppin in the U.S., then he wasn't popular.
But we have all heard his name somehow even if we not familiar w his music

Usually it’s a term for an indie artist who is promoted as organic and natural with a huge or decent buzz who is actually receiving some major backing .

Then when they “ announce the deal” it appears to be rags to riches

For artists not getting that buzz it makes them feel like they’re trash or just not working hard enough ,when in fact, you just don’t have the plug

Just getting famous or having success in what seems to be out of blue doesn’t make somebody a plant though it was just their time or great luck and timing.

I just told you the play she made

And I agree with you and there's a legion of people who don't like the fact she's doing this with black men

But thank Drake for her going viral
Wrong. She was already getting interviews with folks should should have.

She has family connections

Wasn't Lana del Rey discovered to be an actual industry plant early on and that's why her buzz dropped almost right away?

In this case the definition is that shje was marketed on some "I got in the game through playing on corners and in small clubs and all this came out of nowhere" but in reality her father or some relative was a major figure in the music industry and she secretly had the backing of major labels and they planned her whole image for years or some shit like that.

I don't remember the exact details but that's what I would call an industry plant in the truest sense.

Nigga Ice Spice is definitely one the video you posted was from a year ago. post a video of her rapping like four or five years ago even niggas in New York said she came out of nowhere. My little cousin used to go to school with her which is scared heart high school. She said they didn’t even know she could rap or talk. But my cousin did say she was cool people though she said she was your typical Dominican lightskin chick from the Bronx with a fat ass that niggas used to go crazy over.
