Breaking News A union representing nearly 150,000 autoworkers has launched a strike against the Big 3 U.S. automakers — General Motors, Ford and Stellantis.

Good

I said in another thread about UPS strike. They need to make people full time because the one by my house only have a handful of full time workers out of hundreds. The drivers are the full timers but it’s only so many of them and warehouse workers out number them like 20-1.

These companies trying not to pay and if they pay they don’t give hours

I don't think what the union wants is insane at all. Wages have been stagnant for decades and the pandemic exposed that people can be just as productive when workers have a better work/life balance.

40% INCREASE over 4 years (10%/yr), doing 20% LESS work. Does that really sound reasonable to you?

Im all for a wage increase, I'd even go so far as to say they should've pushed for more, but not for less work.

Just because you are working less hours doesn't necessarily mean that you are doing less work. If they can provide the same level of productivity, what would be the issue with a 4 day work week? Also a 4 day work week doesn't mean that everybody would be off at the same time...

Yes evening the scales sounds very reasonable. Productivity and profits have far outpaced employee pay for years now. It’s getting back what is owed.

But that could also be a negotiation tactic. You don’t always start where you’d wish to end. Maybe their hoping to land at a 40 hours 4 day work week.

The fact that these companies are actually fighting workers from gettin fair pay is still mind bottling.

Covid isn't the pandemic. It's GREED

Bruh, when the price of eggs tripled, only for everyone to find out there really was no reason for it that should have told everyone what's going on right now. Corporate greed is rampant right now. People ain't gettin' paid right and are struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile corporate suits outchea living their best lives gettin fat cat salaries along with stock and shit.

After mass exodus and retirements in the NYPD ,Right now the NYPD is doing a pilot program in The Bronx of 3 days of work and 3 days off or 4 days of work and 2 days after a quality of life initiative that emerged from recent contract negotiations with the Police Benevolent Association ( Union ).

Everyone in America is pushing and should be pushing for a shorter work week , regardless of what sector of the economy you work in. This rat race has been going on for long enough. It’s time to bring the 5 day work week and 2 days off schedule to an end !

There's a whooooooooooooooole lotta my old classmates that are employees of each of the Big 3. This shit has been all over my timeline.

they're also talking about boycotting the North American International Detroit Auto Show, and I wanna support everybody but The Big 3 don't make cars anymore and them folks ain't striking against Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, BMW, Mercedes, and every other auto manufacturer out there that still makes actual cars so I might just wind up down there this weekend anyways.
