HBO The Idol (CANCELED After 1 Season)

That tweet is misleading and a tad confusing because it says in the article that Abel isn't returning for season 2 but other articles are referencing the same article and saying the show isn't returning

I didn't watch the second episode, was it any good?

meh. Im indifferent about it. Music industry being filled with vultures and people with ulterior motives was my takeaway that episode.

It's like they took the ridiculousness and over sexualized shit like Euphoria did and ramped it up but the story isnt nearly as compelling.

Ima check the third episode when it drops *shrugs*

Just finished the 2nd episode and bout to start this new one. Man The Weeknd and whoever is writing his shit is awful lmaoooo that whole scene of him talkin to Jocelyn in the bedroom was cringe as hell.

Am I gonna keep watching this just to complain? You got damn right! This show is one of them sooooo bad it’s good joints

I love this show
Cuz you're in the music industry, you relate. This shit got canned within 2 episodes because most viewers can't relate to the insider point of view

When I was deep in the bay rap scene I remember hoping Entourage would last cuz i loved how it was all about the inside of the film industry...that show was a hit tho, the premise was simple. Idols premise is kinda vague and probably boring to most

That was a rumor. Not true HBO said no decision has been made

And I damn sure like it cause I know ppl like The Weekend .There's mad slick shady cult of personalities in entertainment period.

But I think I would like it without fucking with music.

Idk it ain't boring to me in anyway

The premise you have an abused child star pop star who wants to make meaningful music and she meets a shady industry guy with a cult leader vibe and possible sinister plans.

I love the music and then inside look at stardom

I laughed when the guy looked around the corner about the sounds in the dressing room

Well that was interesting lol

Shouldn't he be hitting her when she's actually practicing or whatever to keep her attention though? Wasn't the story that her mom would do it to motivate her? So just sitting there getting hit doesn't seem like it simulates what her mom was doing

Certainly adds something to the show though but her just sitting there getting hit to replicate her mom so she can focus and make better music doesn't seem like it's the same

This episode was better but it's still a slow burn while technically at the halfway point of the short season
