Not liking your kid because they grew into being a fucked up adult is very different from not being emotionally available to your child and thus having a bad relationship. One you as the parent have limited control over after a certain point...the other you have complete control over and are the determining factor in how that relationship develops.

Also we can't as a society in general continue to complain about people's lack or and refusal to grow while at the same time holding onto and continuing to perpetuate the same shit we know is harmful. We know enough now to know that children need emotional care same as they need actual physical care. So to continue to ride the "well that's how my parents and their parents" did it is lazy as hell especially when you have vivid memories of how your parents doing it wasn't always the right way. And I think that's what alot of people get stuck at...having to admit that certain ideals they were raised with simply aren't right and shouldn't be passed down

Beyond this tweet There is a large contingent of men especially in the past who lean hard on being the material "provider"... without providing anything more .. some feel the work is done at that point without providing sustenance and support..

I think its fair because how youngonna deny whatever experiences she had with her father how does that sound.. that shit don't strike you as crazy

Now when he dies its gonna be oh I wish we had more time😭😭 oh I wish I could talk to him just one more time😭😭, if he had a policy he should leave what ever money he get to anyone but them. Dude worked y'all life was better for it

I mean since they stood on that while he was alive and could've changed things but didn't. Don't seem like the type to change just cause of his death.

Probably not. I'd almost be willing to put folding money on that.
I'm thinking the same thing. The shit might have hurt him to know that he wasn't there for his kids and he was trying to make up for lost time. To them, it was too late for all that and they just moved on without hearing his side.

I wonder if the kids ever asked their father why didn't he try to spend time with them?

Pops gonna hit them with Prince father shit from Purple Rain "DON'T I KEEP THE HEAT ON!!!"

And what's fucked up about that is that as long as you continue to draw a breath, there's time; it ain't too late. Mans prolly been trying for years and them hateful ass kids just ignored him.

I mean as the child in that situation is on you to hear your parents out...or is it on them to make sure there's nothing that happens for you to have to "hear out" to begin with? Just having actually been in a similar situation of having to decide on whether or not to forgive a parent who wasn't there in the way they should...it's not really an easy choice to make nor a right/wrong one.
