Cody is a star in the WWE because that character and the way he booked himself was more suited for sports entertainment. All that over the top overbooking stuff he was doing wasn't going over with the AEW audience.

Who knows what kinda story he wanted to tell w/ his creative freedom that he fought so hard for?

This is true. Had he embraced turning heel...then I don't think it would've been a problem at AEW

To be fair that Cody face run had ran it's course and became unbearable

I bet we will get a heel turn and who knows he probably would of turned there too when HE was ready for it
 
It didn't help that he took himself out the title picture and then started beating the up and coming guys instead of the more established guys
 
Dude literally made him and Ogogo, US vs UK for no reason at all, then stole Malakai Black's shine by teasing retirement after the match. Folks was tired of the stuff Cody was doing.
 
Cody's booking and feuds made no sense with everything else going on in AEW at the time. Cody is literally the same character in WWE that he was in AEW. All they did was give him a rocket strap

Wrestling fans stay flip flopping and u kno that shit.

There's no way to satisfy everybody. Even if he turned heel there still would of been ppl bitching cause i guarantee you that not every single AEW fan wanted a heel turn.

Biggest mistake he made there was definitely taking himself out the title picture
 
A great PLE turns into the usual people complaining about things that they have complained about for years. Shocking
 
I'm not sure how Dakota Kai gonna do on the main roster but if Alexa can dominate big chicks even though it's not believable Dakota can as well
 

Whats the point in creative freedom when you can't book yourself and tell your story the way that you want to? Niggas cried about creative freedom and how it was such a game changer and then they got mad when Cody used his to try to tell his story.

With everything else they do over there its "Lets wait and let the story play out. I trust them to do it right, its a long term story" but I guess now the fans drew the line at Cody. :hahaha:
