OPINION Is Marvel's Black Panther movie really a "special moment" for Black America??

convo from another thread, but i personally think that what's happening with this film is no small feat.
Goldie thinks all Marvel is doing is exploiting black culture. I dont see how this is exploiting where you have black director, majority black cast, black writers, etc...

Including all the actors and directors, what percent of the profit do u think black people will make from that movie?
being that they werent the ones financing it, i wouldnt know, but i think it would be relative to whatever they were able to negotiate
i dont know how their deals are structured though. Are they getting money upfront or recouping off the ticket, merch, dvd sales, etc...

its very rare to see black people in a heroic light via mass media..
This is huge because its a gigantic mainstream flick For us by us..i dont think its gonna make people see the light so to speak but..if you look around..most movies feature white heroes/saviors its an endless stream of that.with the 100's of period pieces war movies/comic book movies action movies... blah, blah.. will people capitalize of of the energy/environment that this produces of course they will.
However having this stage/anticipation is priceless and is an opportunity to the actors/director all involved and to open a world up to the viewers
Sidebar the silverscreen has shaped the minds and perceptions of many.. I dont see how this can be classified as bad sometimes the intangible is greater than the tangible

None of the actors or director has that type of power to where they are getting money from ANY type of marvel sales. I would be shocked if all the money combined that the black staff in that movie (actors, director,etc) were payed equals more than 1% of the profit Marvel will make from Black Panther.
That's not a moment for black people, they're handing niggas crumbs and niggas acting like it's banana bread or something. How low have we made the bar to where something like this is a "special moment"?

I kinda lost my way at the end of my post but... its not all about the benjamins... its exposing people to a black world us them and whoever.. thats more priceless than paper and they dont just do one movie this will be a trilogy off top that money will be rolling in.. but the currency of confidence/positive perception dreams and imagination of a influential black film is priceless this is too huge to even be relegated to just a black film... when it is.. but on a gargantuan scale that is unavoidable.

It's a good thing that we're finally getting a black hero film cast with 98% black actors. It's good seeing us in these positive roles I know it's fictional but it's a start.
Hopefully this will give more looks to "regular" films with All black cast. I know you have to be tired of those slave driven films. We're more than that show us in a different light.
