The Official Loc Thread

you got those tiny locs so I can understand that. I was forced to learn how to do mine own because of necessity and my job location. It takes me about 4-5 hours from wash, twist and dry.
Yeah, that's not bad, it takes up to 2 days if i do it, because my daughter is always attached to me.. Smh

I have an issue with dry scalp only at the front of my scalp. It flakes up really bad when the sweat dries after a workout. I've used tea tree, carrot, olive, coconut, and peppermint oils. I've tried sea breeze, leave in shampoo, those cleanse scalp sprays, changed shampoos, blow dried my hair after a workout, and twist products and nothing.
Anybody have this issue? any suggestions would help.
I would put some shea butter on it..

I'll try that out!
Any other suggestions are welcomed
Do not use shea butter on your locs! It will be in there for evere and clog it up.

Tea tree will dry you out leading to more dandruff.
What I do is use a loose carrier oil (olive, jojoba, carrot etc.), and add some rosemary and ylang ylang to it. Both of those essential oils have anti bacterial properties that will help stop the damage the sweat is doing.

Also if possibly a quick rinse of your scalp post work out will help a lot

Locs sound so complicated. I hope I don’t fuck mine up. I sweat in my head a lot.

It's not complicated. Just don't put anything that's solid at room temp in your hair. Put something on your head at night. Oil your shit twice a week. Easy

I didn't mean put the shea in your locs, just on the scalp where it is dried out.. And only a teeny amount. Sorry, i should have clarified..

Been meaning to twist my joints for the past two days but the days just got away from me.. i have mad new growth and need to reign it in between today and tomorrow.

Work dont really trip on my locks like that but i try to keep it at least semi "neat"... Aint twist in over a month so its starting to look a bit wild lol. they'll be aite tho.. longest I've went without twisting was like 2 months

The longest i went without twisting was prob about 5-6 months, when i was pregnant. My hair grew so fast. I had a few inches of new growth.. I was too tired to do anything with it, so i mostly wore it up in a bun or headwrap..

I was told to keep my hands out my head. If that’s the case. I’m struggling like a mf to do so.

You don't wanna sweat in in too much. Let your scalp breath.

What they use to start your locs with
I started them myself. I started mine the way I started my brothers, two strand twists. I used Murray’s Loc Lock whatever it’s called. I was gonna buy the stuff @MzKB uses but I had this here already and I like it.

What did the your brothers end up lookingin like? I heard it takes a while for it to stop looking like a 2 strand twist
