it's been found that muscle memory, the ability for a muscle to more quickly "get back" to its prior state of size and strength after a long period of detraining, can last for years if not be permanent. explains why as a former sprinter my legs blow up in no time after hitting the squats again.
but my point is, and granted i'm no scientist and i really couldn't say what effect hormone replacement therapy would have on muscle cell physiology, but it sounds to me like that would have implications for transgender athletes who had resistance trained heavily before transitioning.
